Last Notes npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…29kj Funny though, I've literally worked with multi-million IT systems but HVAC, appliance repair, and engines are a complete mystery to me. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…29kj Every time I work on these things, I get a little better. I'm at a point that I'm having a hard time justifying paying the dealer to do the work when I have the time to do it myself. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ New battery in my wife's Can-Am Spyder. Normal people can do this in 15 minutes. Unfortunately I'm not normal as it takes me an hour. #motorcycle #trike npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…w75x My biggest problem is I can't carry a tune with my voice. I dated a choir teacher once who believed that everybody can learn to sing. After meeting me, she no longer believes that. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…w75x I used to play (or attempt to play) as a kid too. I think if I was to pickup an instrument today it would be a piano. The electric keyboards are pretty reasonable in price. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ There are times I wonder if I should buy a guitar or two. Not to learn how to play but to have them in the background of my camera images so everyone else thinks I already know how to play them. #humor npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ As a self-punishment, I spend time commenting on the Nextdoor social network with a belief that I can change the minds of some of my neighbors with truth and facts. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…qgtr I'm sure it's the usual Google pattern of buy, collect data, disregard product/project/software. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ First world problem but I've been upset that Google is dropping support for the 1st and 2nd generation of the Nest Thermostat. After months of stewing, I just realized I'm on 3rd Gen. So that's embarrassing and a relief. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ I'm slightly bothered when people give a human name to their car or motorcycle. I'm especially bothered when I know they treat that car or motorcycle better than they do people. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…k0zs for this reason, I wish someone like Honda would produce an inverse trike. Luckily, I have a Can-Am dealer in my city. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Sunday: After traveling 385 miles to Deadwood, SD this is a look at my odometer and dashboard on my 2017 Can-Am Spyder RTL. We were there for last week's 3 Wheeler Rally. #motorcycle #retirement npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…k0zs Only issue I had with the transfer was with Roon (music software) thought it had the same server on both Macs. I couldn't get rid of the conflict until I reset/erased the old Mac and started fresh. I'm going to use the old Mac as Roon/Media Server. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…qgtr Being paid in applesauce isn't such a bad idea! npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Applause is a receipt, not a bill. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Another year, another review of cell phone plans. For my family we're remaining on Consumer Cellular, the "old people's network", that I've been on since my 40s. I had considered us crossing over to Visible but CC remains cheaper with better coverage for my areas of interest. #cellphone npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ My grandpa greeted me often by calling me Zeke instead of Bryan. I once asked him, why? My grandpa replied that he had a friend named Bryan/Brian that everyone called him Zeke. He then paused and eventually admitted he didn't know why they called him Zeke either. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ I recently traveled to the French Polynesia with my Casio watch. #casiocult npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Not only do I not know what's going on, I wouldn't know what to do about it if I did. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Everyday, I check to make sure noaa.gov, climate.gov, and weather.gov are online. So far, so good. #noaa #nws npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…qgtr I've done the same thing with contributing authors for websites I've managed. Occasionally, I've received a copyright or plagiarism complaint...and it's difficult to defend or take action if the author doesn't appear "real". npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Perhaps a personal bias, but I tend to follow back people with their full names in their display name versus anonymous vague pseudonyms. Yet it seems many of these "hide the identity" accounts are some of the more successful on the platform. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Exciting update! CMS Report and socPub have deactivated their accounts on X, but don't worry - socPub is now on Bluesky! Domain is verified, so you can still catch all their latest content there. Check them out at: https://bsky.app/profile/socpub.com #socialmedia npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Free Our Feeds wants to build a social media ecosystem ‘resistant to billionaire influence’ #socialmedia npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Mastodon says the decentralized network ‘should not be owned or controlled by a single individual.' #socialmedia npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ College students: Summer 2025 paid internships in the Chesapeake Bay #NOAA #WxSky https://www.noaa.gov/education/stories/college-students-summer-2025-paid-internships-in-chesapeake-bay-ext npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…k0zs I've never been. I'm worried if they ever saw mine...they would quit their job. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…jeml I should be an Olympic Gold Medalist by now. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…qgtr The snap peas were actually very tasty. I ate half of them before my first bite into the steak. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ With the wife working, I decided to fire up the grill on this 8 deg F cold day. Nothing beats a good steak for dinner accompanied by a cheap Irish whiskey. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Threads and X face a common issue with algorithms determining post success. The freedom for users to select algorithms on Bluesky, minimal algorithms on Mastodon, and chronological timelines on both are appealing alternatives to X and Threads for me personally. #socialmedia npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ I can't wrap my head around how Threads' interface and user experience can be this bad. I'd rather check out posts on Threads that are shared with the Fediverse through my Mastodon account. 🧵 #Threads #Mastodon npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It's one of the few holidays on the calendar that focuses on giving thanks rather than receiving and buying "stuff". npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ I spent way too much of my day house cleaning. Once I retire, I'm going to religiously follow the commandment of resting on the seventh day. No housework, no bills, no lawn care - just pure leisure. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…qgtr I remember those fights. For the record, I’d rather be knocked down in 90 seconds than have my ear bit off. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…qgtr For one round, I can run some distance within a boxing ring. I may not be able to sting like a bee, but I can surely float like a butterfly. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @nprofile…qgtr I could take him on with my youthful age advantage of 56. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ I finally got to see the Paul-Tyson fight. I haven't wached a boxing match in years. Sorry Netflix, but I think I'm OK if I don't watch another boxing game in my lifetime. If you're a real boxing fan, what did you think? npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ I like Mastodon more than X, Bluesky, or Threads. Such a good vibe here. Yet for things closer to home and even professional colleagues...there isn't a whole lot of them folks here. Sometimes that's a good thing but it prevents Mastodon from being my primary social media platform. #socialmedia npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @npub18hd…kf64 It's an accomplishment! I did this in an "emergency" when the upper tank portion cracked. It was during the tail-end of COVID when there was a three week wait for installs. It was YouTube to the rescue! npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ For Father's Day, check out what my son surprised me with - an autographed poster of Kansas from their 40th Anniversary tour! Can't wait to hang it up in the home office! 🎸 #RockOn #FathersDayGift npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ Shameless promotion. I'm married to a talented artist that could use some of your business. You can order her #photography via her website: https://www.dakotaimagery.com/ npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @npub19st…u9g9 Just curious, why not use the "official" Mastodon app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.joinmastodon.android&hl=en_US&gl=US npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ @npub1xpc…3t05 I've done that before. Then that one fateful days you realize you should have read or kept that email you deleted a month ago. npub1v2m0gpy9xstm9knm6g7rlr5e73vscs80dqq779r3z6qxxd5jqglq3h384f Bryan Ruby 🌤️ I am so far behind in unread emails. Going to have to come up with a better system.
