Can someone explain to me why companies choose Discord as their community forum? It’s one of the worst and most confusing forum platforms I know. And they don’t take data privacy seriously at all. Above all, I don’t understand why companies like @nprofile…uh5t , which prioritize data privacy, use Discord.

Very interesting. I'm just wondering how this (open-pleb) can be operated without being considered a financial service provider. Wouldn't the payments have to be direct P2P to get around that? The question is probably who operates the mint. What are your thoughts on this?

I liked this one. Especially the point Mauricio made at the end about people needing to own assets before they care about property rights. Making the “You'll own nothing and you'll be happy” phrase from the WEF 2016 essay sound even more diabolical.

I know there are already quite a few task lists out there. But I felt there was a need for a simple and secure task list. A task list that protects my data. That's why I built Tasksafe. A safe for your tasks. Only you have access to your tasks. We only see encrypted data. https://tasksafe.ch/
The task list is simple and easy to understand. Priorities and tags help you organize your tasks. The task list focuses on personal task management. Sharing tasks with other people is not currently possible. Tasksafe currently runs in your browser. This means that there is no native app yet. Maybe some of you will enjoy it too. I would appreciate your feedback.

I have already supported many of my friends in setting up their self-custody Bitcoin. It was often difficult to explain what the 12/24 words are and, above all, what options there are for storing them. I always felt like an alien trying to explain to a human how a UFO works.
Now, for the first time, I have helped a colleague to set up her Bitcoin self-custody with a Bitkey. So yesterday I handed her a Bitkey and watched her set it up. It was eye-opening. Such a simple and well-thought-out process. I think I will continue to onboard bitcoin newbies with Bitkey's. She immediately lost her beads of sweat on her forehead when I told her there was an option where she didn't have to hide words. And also, she was able to add me as a recovery contact in case of an emergency, which was extremely reassuring to her and to me as well. I understand the drawbacks that exist with Bitkey (privacy, vendor lock-in, etc.), but you can't imagine how easy and straightforward this worked. Very satisfying! Well done @nprofile…nkd7.
Who has also had this experience?

People are confused. The reason that Apple has disabled the Advanced Data Protection (ADP) feature is, that they had it in the first place. It is an opt-in feature. Most people don't know it exists. Google and Microsoft don't have such a feature. That is the reason they didn't have to do anything in the first place to comply with the UK Government.

I try to understand. But why is it easier? Is it a usability issue? In Aqua Wallet, for example, I can simply swap it. It's easy. Is it more permissionless?

2025-01-31 14:18:00 GMT

- reply

Thank you. I understand all of that. The comparison makes sense for me if we talk about Bitcoin. But it doesn't make sense if we talk about USDT on Lightning vs USDT on Liquid. In both cases, you have to trust Tether. It's not more permissionless on Lightning.

2025-01-31 13:39:21 GMT

- reply

I understand the benefits of Tether USDT. I just want to understand in more detail what the advantage of USDT on Lightning is compared to Liquid, for example. In both cases, you need permission from Tether.

2025-01-31 13:36:07 GMT

- reply

That sounds reasonable. If you say they are already in the network. What does that mean exactly? In both cases (Lightning network, Liquid) you need Tether to make a swap. I don't quite understand the advantage of being “in the network” yet.

2025-01-31 13:21:21 GMT

Everyone is celebrating the news that Tether USDT is launching on the Lightning Network. Why is this a good thing? What is the advantage compared to Tether on Liquid, for example? I don't understand the hype at all right now. But maybe some of you can enlighten me.
