I’ve been more withdrawn since the pandemic.
a few months ago I proposed building a wood fired rocket kiln in my community. To get this done, I have been around a LOT of people-building a kiln, teaching newbies to make work for the kiln, I also did a printmaking activity for our historic group.
It may not be much in the big scheme of the world, but getting out there and doing what I can has been really good for my spirit- and I think it’s helped others too.

Yay! I just finished step 1 of my sheepdog plate. The carving. Now it’s going to dry sloooowly - and then into the kiln!
The dog will look a lot more like a sheepdog once I glaze it with black and white.
This is a new experimental process for me (combining my tile and printmaking techniques for a plate). Can’t wait to see how it turns out.

I DO have some gold leaf floating around somewhere—lol! No, but those wallpapers can be costy compared to a can of paint, can’t they? I usually paint a new color every year so…to keep it interesting- never tried wallpaper, maybe it’s not that big a deal to hang and swap . I’m going to have to do some research

For most of my professional life, I’ve put my art in black frames. but to celebrate a recent milestone birthday, I’m framing all future work with white frames. It’s gonna take some getting used to, but I think I’m going to like the way the white brings out the color of my paintings..I’m getting rid of the gloomy grey wall next :) open to any suggestions. Just fired this vase. if the design for this looks familiar to you, I made this while visiting Canada and was also learning about historic Korean ceramics at the same time. This decoration is my response to a very famous ancient Korean pot using the Canada goose as a substitute for the crane.

I had the opportunity to take a Rocket Kiln workshop with Lisa Orr
her rocket kiln makes wood fire more environmentally friendly, which is awesome!
Lisa is also an amazing artist and teacher. I won't gush too much about her, but here's a peek at my table at the end of the 5 day workshop-with just a few examples of what I learned.
If you get a chance to take one of her workshops (she has some coming up)---I highly recommend!

It holds ridiculously big canvas, and with counterweights, it's easy to lift up, down, left or right.

i work in Cincinnati---and the flying pigs are an 'un-official' mascot of our town. We LOVE pigs in this town!
Our marathon is called the 'flying pigs' marathon. And back when the public art project of having different artists paint fiberglass statues was trendy, we had flying pig sculptures all around town.
I'm going to look for a photo of the finished teapot.

this one tab idea is new to me. But I see how it would help concentration. I’m guessing it would also free up my devices memory and let it concentrate

Thanks! My hands turned a little bit purple (not sure if it was paint or frostbite, lol) -- either way, it was worth it!

This is 'technically' an autumn painting, because winter doesn't start until next week, but we have had more snow than usual here in Kentucky---I bundled up and pushed myself out of my cozy studio to do some painting from direct observation--no photos or Ai (barf)

thank you! I think adding the personal human story to my art will help distinguish it from the AI “art” that is everywhere nowadays.

Thanks for the great feedback! I'm really proud of this one--put a lot of myself into it.

I'm super excited to share the video of my new woodcut---And painfully aware how hypocritical it is; that I stayed up too late working on it so I could share it with you,
Wishing you all sweet dreams!

I used to run a print studio in a historic log cabin from the 1700s---the pandemic turned life upside down, and I had to close it.
Now I'm printing in a newer location (1800's), and needed some art to decorate a blank space on the wall, so I revived some designs from the log cabin days
the Log Cabin Print Shop is dead--Long live the Log Cabin Print Shop!!!

If its a plant that can die, I'm pretty good at making it happen. She picked the right one for me...pothos have joined (some) cactus and mother in law tongue as plants that can survive my neglect

I’m sorry—how heartless! I hope they walk that back before the story of what an awful grinch they are gets out. Good luck!

this is exciting! I have a battery panel setup to run a lightbulb and radio in a shed, but plugging into the house would be really awesome! Thanks for sharing!

On this snowy, Kentucky morning, I wanted to share a photo of the beautiful plant and planter that [@DrFerrous](https://hachyderm.io/@DrFerrous ) gifted me last year when she visited my studio.
I have a black thumb (kill plants easily) so I'm very proud of how much it has grown. Much credit to the design of the 3d planter, which keeps it watered.
second photo is view from the studio right now--for reference

I made this quick and dirty video just a couple of hours before the event at my studio.
It's too late to attend, but I thought those of you who can't visit my studio in person might like a peek into the studio
plus, i want to show off my new 2d animation trick-animated handwriting!! - using #blender3d - grease pencil
hope you all are having a great weekend!
