#Democrats are going to have to give up the nanny state if they want to beat the #MAGA authoritarian train. The only way to take down big government is by starving it of the #dollar. Adopt #Bitcoin to kill the beast, but in doing so the Dems drive a stake into their own heart.
Sounds good to me.

The Dems are appalled by Trump's authoritarian political moves.
The best way to depose a dictator is to cut off funding.
The only way to do that is by ditching the dollar for a money you can't print: #Bitcoin.
But the irony is that they conflate #Bitcoin with crypto and Trump, so they'll never move to it.
Not to mention they are just as authoritarian when they are in office. They're just not so loud about it.

It seems counterintuitive, but offering a RLOC against Bitcoin collateral would likely yield more return than offering only lump sum loans.
1. RLOC's are inherently more attractive to HODLers because they pay interest only on what credit they've used. The volume of RLOCs would be so much higher than lump sum loans that those offering the credit would make more yield than offering only lump sum.
2. RLOC's are the missing pieces in many HODLers #FIRE plans. It makes more sense to sell and keep cap gains taxes negligible (spend under 96k for a married couple) than to take the interest hiit on a 100k loan while dealing with liquidation risk in a bear market.
3. As a consequence of more HODLers taking out RLOC's rather than selling, BTC trades higher and perpetuates more HODLers hitting FIRE and taking out even more RLOCs.

Awesome! Thank you for the detailed reply and I appreciate your hard work in this area. With regards to the timelock, where no one can spend the coins (let's call this a "no-spend timelock"), I do think this would be helpful for locking up funds in DEEP cold storage. Basically funds that you don't see needing for a while. As you approach the end of the no-spend timelock (eg 1 month), you can reset the timelock to always have the provable deniability that you cannot spend the coins. Once again, I think this will be helpful in preventing coercion like kidnapping.
Until this functionality is implemented, I don't see much need to switch from my current setup since this is technically simpler than adding a timelock and still provides redundancy.
I'm now following you on Nostr and I look forward to future updates!

Trying to figure out if @nprofile…a489 is right for me. I currently use a geographicially distributed 3-of-5 multisig to avoid single points of failure as well as a wrench attack. What I would love to be able to do is time lock a majority of the funds to dissuade attackers from coercive attacks (i.e. kidnapping a loved one). A multisig doesn't help here if the attacker knows I can gather a quorum of keys in a reasonable amount of time. However, a time lock of 3 months or more makes this attack much more costly since it's hard to hold a hostage for that long. So my questions here:
1. Liana is open source. Do we know how many people are reviewing this code?
2. Can you look at a time locked address on chain and prove that it's time locked?
3. Once a time lock expires, are there any on-chain transactions that must happen? This is in regards to the unpredictability of future fees.
4. This is fairly specific, but could you do a 3-of-5 multisig time locked for 3 months (or block equivalent) and then have a reversion to a single sig in a year (i.e. a recovery key)? Basically asking if double time locks are possible on the same UTXO.

It's time to break up America. New England and the West Coast are ideologically different countries than the Midwest and South. Let people vote with their feet. Let these regions swing as far right or far left as their population wants. The political structural divide was baked in at the writing of the Constitution, and George Washington saw it coming at the end of his presidency when he warned against the formation of political parties.
We will never be able to unify America ideologically. There is simply too much division regarding how these regions view both the past and future.
Failure to separate will lead to a increasingly violent swing from right to left and back again until we collapse completely.

The most sinister lie that Keynesians/MMTers propagate is the idea that savings do nothing for the economy, that only once those savings are spent does the economy benefit from this increase in consumption.
Nothing could be further from the truth and this lie underpins our credit-based, inflationary monetary system.
The truth is that ALL savings = investment.
If I have $40k and decide to hold it in my savings account rather than purchasing a new vehicle, I am signaling to firms that what’s on the market is not worth my $40k. So if you want my hard-earned money, you better either 1. make the same car at a cheaper price (efficiency) or 2. Make a better car at the same price (innovation).
I saved, firms invested. Keynesians/MMTers need to go back to first principles.

I hate the right. I hate the left. Both would rather screw over the other party than do what's best for the American people.
Just as Trump's tax cuts were set to reduce/expire just as the next administration came to office, the left also played shenanigans to screw over the next administration.
In the months leading up to the election, Yellen not only sold the short end of the yield curve, but also bought back at the long end. This had the effect of propping up the stock market by keeping the 10 year yield artificially low.
Now as soon as Trump is about to take office, they are selling the long end of the curve and the stock market is tanking due to it.
Both parties suck. I voted third party and always will.

The most recent high profile physical attack on a bitcoiner that took place in Toronto this past week has made me once again examine my physical security and my Bitcoin security. I use multi-vendor, geographically distributed multisig. If you kidnap me, you've got to bring me to at 3 different places which are open and public places. This could take over 24 hours time. It's probably not worth the risk of you getting caught in the process.
But what about kidnapping me (or worse one of my family members) and holding me/them in a secret location until someone ELSE gathers the keys? THIS seems plausible.
We need to be able to timelock our Bitcoin to prevent this type of attack. I know that timelocking is currently possible (see Liana wallet), but I believe that you have to create a new on-chain transaction to "reset" the timelock for every expiry. This isn't practical or efficient in the long term.
So my question: what type of upgrades are needed to the Bitcoin code in order to timelock a UTXO upon the signing of a new transaction? In other words, I sign a transaction for a ransom, but it doesn't send for a certain number of blocks. It is also reversible with an additional signature. And this is all verifiable before the signing even occurs to deter the transaction in the first place.

This is why I think there's a valid argument for UBI in the short term while we downsize the role of government in our lives. Let the free market do its thing, and if we need social support to get us through the transition to a less government dependent society, a UBI would be the most economic approach, letting individuals decide where best to put their capital.

Maybe one day be able to slowly dial down the UBI as the economy rights itself from the last century of government-directed allocation of capital.

Lot of claims, not much data to back it up. I agree that there was a coordinated marketing campaign to get seed oils into our diet, but claiming that they are the primary cause of all health problems is just misleading. They even acknowledge correlation does not equal causation, but quickly move on and ignore this. Also, there's some internal conflict of data. They make the claim that we need less omega 6 and more omega 3 to preserve the historical "ratio". What about canola oil or flaxseed oil, which both have better ratios than olive oil?
Disclaimer: I try to avoid seed oils as much as possible, but I think it's an overgeneralization to 1. Lump all seed oils together and 2. To definitively promote them as the primary cause of all health issues that Americans face

Question for the community:
Assuming you are storing your funds in a 3-of-5 multisig wallet and you don't plan on using/selling for another 10 years, what do you think should be your smallest UTXO size that you should keep? What size is not going to be completely decimated by fees when you actually try to spend them?

My question about #Ocean.xyz: how is it going to impact transaction fees if every miner is receiving a payout from the block reward? I personally would want to batch my UTXOs to some degree to avoid huge tx fees both now and in the future
