@npub10pg…xu2f I think it's a french word imported in like most of the weird words in English that don't obey the rules like 'sergeant' and etc.

i tend to write stuff out of order, so things end up horribly mixing up grammatically sometimes if I don't reread it all before posting. I probably almost seem esl sometimes even though English is my only language and I am really just horribly scatter-brained.

@npub1x77…rlte @npub10pg…xu2f arch elitism is not really a thing anymore imo. distros like openbsd and gentoo are were the real elitist types are now. it was definitely a thing in the past though if you look through arch forum posts from the early to mid 2010s where people were told to fuck off and had their threads immediately locked by jannies for not reading every arcane footnote scrolled away in the corners of the arch wiki.

I'd be neat if they made more good anime with paranoid schitzo-conspiracy themes like steins gate or welcome to the nhk. Need me some more schitzo anime.

#[0] #[1] #[2] > I think Americans are brainwashed enough at this point that the dems could just come out and say "sorry no more elections" to rip-roaring applause
I'm not so sure I believe that part. Personally where I live, I have seen more and more distrust and disgust towards the federal government. I really do not buy the whole thing will just hold together indefinitely like people who roll with the 'infinite slow decline' theory that the US will end up like South Africa. imo the radical differences in structure, demographics, and, size don't really allow for things to play out the same way. I think in the end the whole thing will actually break up especially since its financial future is going to keep getting worse and eventually it wont be able to pay states off to cooperate with it through 'federal support' plus the people in charge are too arrogant not to eventually pick a full on war with China that will decimate any armies it could use to continue to enforce compliance. Regardless it will likely become a war torn hellhole by mid to late century at latest so its not like i'm saying muh ethnostate or similar cope will magically materialize, but just that I don't buy the perceived invincibility of the current ruling powers are as real as people think.
>My advice is start shopping around for other places to live.
Do such places don't really exist at this point though? You can try going to South Korea or Japan which in the short term are great, but I'm not so sure of the long term future of either because of them being caught in the middle of a collision course between the US and China. All the other 1st world countries (especially in Europe) are effectively controlled by the same international cabal as the US, so I don't see much gain there. You could go to the 3rd world if you can put up with the reduced living conditions, but it wouldn't be much better.

#[0] is it because it only compresses the swap and not the ram as a whole? disk write speeds are always a lot slower than ram so maybe the CPU can compress the data fast enough that you also benefit from the reduced data writing
