Tucker Carlson deserves credit for opposing the Iran War, denouncing Trump + giving Palestinians what Edward Said called "permission to narrate." I wish he didn't peddle white nationalism + antisemitic conspiracy theories. If he stops, I'll be thrilled. But he does. And people who interview him need to call him on it.

That's absurd. Trump has near-dictatorial powers over his party. He's not "enslaved" by Bibi or Miriam Adelson. It's part of Carlson's effort to exonerate the US, which he considers a dumb but well-meaning empire snookered by crafty, malevolent Israel.
Interviewers need to call him on this stuff.

People who dislike Israel should not conflate it with American Jews -just as people should not conflate the PRC with Chinese Americans or ISIS with American Muslims.
And (not but) synagogues should not say "We stand with Israel" because it encourages that conflation. It makes congregants less safe but, more importantly, given what Israel is doing, it's morally indefensible.

Laura nicely illustrates the absurdity of the IHRA definition of antisemitism, which says that comparing Israel's actions to the Nazis is an example of antisemitism. But there's nothing about being Jewish that makes you immune from speaking-and even acting--like a Nazi. Recognizing that is part of recognizing Jews as fully human.
