I’d like to point out as well that as I was making my lil Table of CDC Directors I had to laugh, because only the woman was required to have relevant training and experience for the position.
For the men, it was what the hell, let’s just give them the job in the absence of any real qualifications.

One particularly galling quote from RFK Jr. buddy Aaron Siri’s podcast today was Siri’s gloating about RFK Jr. as follows:
“…they attacked him viciously for 10 years on public health, called him anti-science, anti-vaxxed and where did he end up? As HHS Secretary”.

More on the drama over whether or not ACIP has been “disbanded” from Robert Malone, one of the members of RFK Jr.’s illegitimate ACIP and rampant misinformation spreader.
When he says he called “Kirk”, he means Kirk Milhoan, another ACIP member who said maybe we don’t polio vaccines anymore.

RFK Jr: Families should make dinner together and that will cure the spiritual crisis in the U.S.
Mom: I would but I have to work two jobs to afford housing.
RFK Jr: I only have one “job” and I’m a millionaire, what’s your problem lazy daisy? I’ve made tens of meals for my kids over decades!

2026-02-27 15:38:52 GMT

This gave anti-vaxxers a window of more than a decade to say “the HPV vaccine has NEVER been shown to reduce the risk of cancer”.
And they did say it. Repeatedly, in fact, as scientists tried to explain the much more complicated truth of why we didn’t have those data yet.

2026-02-25 17:00:50 GMT

Kaine (R, VA) asks if Means agrees with RFK Jr.’s statement that there is “no evidence that flu vaccine prevents disease or prevents hospitalization or death in children”.
Means: I believe all patients should talk to their doctors
Kaine: That’s not what I asked
Means: words words words

2026-02-25 16:25:33 GMT

Casey Means should know that there is a very straightforward and easy position that a legitimate Surgeon General would take on vaccines:
“I understand the science of vaccines. I wholeheartedly and without reservation support restoring the childhood vaccine schedule to its 2024 recommendations”.

He says he doubts that Means can do the job of standing up to this.
He’s correct again.

Holy shit. I do not have confirmation that it’s Benn’s group but all signs point in that direction.
Thanks for sharing this.

2025-12-17 16:27:57 GMT

Such a study would not pass any ethics board in the U.S., which is why, IMO, RFK Jr. is taking this offshore and preying on an extremely vulnerable population.
He does not care how many people have to die in Guinea-Bissau, just like he did not care in Samoa and he does not care in the U.S. 4/7

2025-12-17 16:27:57 GMT

RFK Jr. has awarded $1.6 million to a group in Denmark to conduct a randomized, single-blind study of the birth dose of Hepatitis B vaccine (HepB) to be conducted in Guinea-Bissau.
In my opinion, this is, quite simply, completely unethical, unacceptable, and predatory.
Here’s why.
1/7

2025-12-17 16:27:57 GMT

Through decades of research, HepB vaccine at birth has already been demonstrated be safe and effective, and has in the U.S. reduced childhood HepB infection by 99% since it was implemented.
It is unethical to administer a placebo to infants instead of a vaccine that is known to work. 2/7.

2025-12-17 16:27:57 GMT

Summary:IMO this is a poorly-designed, egregiously unethical study. There is NO scientific evidence to support it.
To do it in Guinea Bissau is perfectly vile, and to farm it out to Denmark to avoid US ethics boards is disgraceful.
Would not be surprised if one of Hoeg’s buddies got the $$. 7/7
public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2025-23245.pdf...

2025-12-17 16:27:57 GMT

A red flag for this study is that it is a single-blind study.
This means that while parents of infants will not be informed if their baby is not protected against HepB, the researchers *will* know.
And that knowledge results in bias, which is why double-blind trials are the gold standard. 5/7

2025-12-17 16:27:57 GMT

Infants who are denied the birth dose will be, for no legitimate scientific purpose, at risk for chronic HepB infection, liver failure, cancer, and premature mortality in adulthood.
This is especially egregious in Guinea-Bissau, where adult prevalence of active HepB is 18.7% (In US it’s 4.3%). 3/7
Hepatitis B and C in the adult...

But he points out yet AGAIN that there is no evidence of harm with HepB vaccine, but there is in fact harm in delaying it.

Summary of ACIP so far today.
In the 10 months since RFK Jr. took the helm at HHS, this committee has slipped into the realm of disinformation, conspiracies, and data torture.
They have targeted vulnerable groups for stigma by blaming them for HBV even existing in the U.S.

Here is a quote from one them, Spencer Deery. It is a relief to know that some Republicans seem to understand the purpose of elections…albeit rarely.
Trump is furious about it.

Today RFK Jr. both suggested that aluminum adjuvants in vaccines cause peanut allergies *and* admitted there are no data to support this hypothesis, so he wants to find some.
Like if you took the scientific method, turned it backward and inside out and made it puke, you’d get RFK Jr.’s thoughts.

2025-11-17 18:25:32 GMT

So many of us have been warning the public that RFK Jr. is going to take away access to as many vaccines as he can.
The December ACIP meeting is dedicating an entire day to reviewing “the safety” of the childhood vaccine schedule.
There’s not a shred of credible evidence that warrants this.

2025-11-17 18:17:57 GMT

The malice and vengefulness with which RFK Jr. treats legitimate science and scientists will haunt us all for decades.
That this man is at the top of US science and healthcare should mean that no Senator who voted to confirm him should have a viable chance at reelection.

2025-11-17 18:10:00 GMT

RFK Jr. decries conflicts of interest and industry input on scientific research; ignoring, of course, the conflicts of his own handpicked minions.
Yet as he continues to cut federal research funding, he is essentially forcing scientists to apply for alternative funding, including from industry.

In many cases, taxpayer funds were used to train the very scientists who have been fired by Trump and RFK Jr. Their training was investment in everyone’s health.
The US taxpayer has been defrauded by The Regime. Waste, fraud and abuse is their motto. Every accusation is a confession.

2025-11-14 14:25:29 GMT

I have to reiterate that the loss to the United States of so many excellent scientists who were fired by Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is catastrophic to the future of the country.
And also to the present of the country.

NIH Director Bhattacharya has built his entire identity on the concept that he was persecuted for his “dissent” (which was actually just really stupid ideas).
He claims he wants the open exchange of ideas at NIH. Then he does this.
These men are so weak.

I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2003.
It *enrages* me that we could prevent others from experiencing life-altering autoimmune disease, but instead, Republicans in the Senate voted to confirm an anti-vaccine failson as HHS Secretary.

2025-11-12 14:37:05 GMT

I started studying the anti-vaccine movement more than fifteen years ago along with one of my colleagues, Dr. Kacey Ernst. It was clear to us even then that this movement was organized, effective, and growing.
Unfortunately, many of our colleagues at the time felt it wasn’t a problem. 1/2

Yeah I’m angry and grumpy tonight, and seeing a lot of hopium about “at least the Epstein files…”.
Here’s my opinion on that. Everything that could harm Trump and allies will have been scrubbed. Otherwise, there is no way the government shutdown would be ending.

I just called and left messages for Arizona Senators Kelly (D) and Gallego (D) telling them that if they cave without a guarantee of ACA subsidies they are going to lose their entire base in one fell swoop.

You can never be sorry enough for dropping the “h” at the end of Pittsburgh.
That h really classes up the name, you know, makes it sound like the home of a Scottish Laird n’at.
Cheers to Raleig for owning this treachery.

This piece by my friend and fellow co-founder of Defend Public Health @gregggonsalves.bsky.social is a must-read. In it he shares the reasons why public health practitioners and allies must rise up to meet this moment.
Public health has had to fight deniers for centuries, and we must do it now.

Every time one anti-vaxxer is quoted in the media, one million scientists and healthcare workers should also be quoted in support of vaccines.
False equivalence in the media is killing us.

Every single barrier to vaccination leaves more and more people unprotected.
Furthermore, the U.S. presently doesn’t have monovalent vaccines for MMR.
Finally, if anti-vaxxers want kids to get fewer shots because of unnecessary fears of aluminum, why do they want to expose them 3x as much?

Trump’s USDA has emailed grocery retailers warning them not to give discounts to SNAP recipients who will not be receiving assistance this month.

But that wasn’t enough harm for him, so now he’s restricting kids’ access to fluoride supplements.

The anti-vaccine movement has the same talking points now as it did in the 1800’s. It’s always been a rejection of science, scientists, and progress, with a soupçon of paranoia.
Below is a slide for a talk I’m preparing that illustrates the identical strategies. I have more examples, too.

It behooves all of us to remember forever that Donald Trump, Republican President of the United States, and his Republican enablers did not *want* to release funds to feed children.
Judges have forced them to do it against their will.

Louisiana is just a microcosm. If you undermine public health and remove public heath powers, outbreaks start bubbling up.
