Their actions were harmful and widely criticised. What Polish state did was to declare the border crossings as “critical infrastructure” and kicked them out. You write “just a few years ago that Poland joined the EU” and this is 100% true, but since Poland was in EU, they were operating at the same requirements as any other EU truckers. On the other hand 2022-2023 Ukraine was granted access to EU market without EU compliance based on Solidarity Directive, which was intended to enable transport of humanitarian loads from EU to Ukraine. What Ukrainian truckers instead did, was to start delivers inside EU, which was totally illegal but since nobody expected that, there were no means to detect it (e.g. road inspection couldn’t work on weekends or at night, for example). Eventually when EU countries hardened road inspection forces , the practice stopped. With grain it was similar situation, although in this case it was mostly Polish importers who were to blame because they bought the grain which was officially intended “for export from EU” and sold it locally, dumping prices on the whole market. That was a perfect case of Polish politicians from the farming lobby filling up their pockets at the cost of other farmers and blaming Ukraine. In any case, the Polish truckers and farmers were not representing the Polish state. And to anyone who complained about “competition from Ukrainian farming if they join EU” I always explain that this would be actually great, because then Ukrainian farming will be required to comply with EU Common Agricultural Policy which, as I wrote earlier, for example forces producers to throttle their production if it would cause disbalance on the EU market. And to be honest, that’s the very point where I believe Ukrainian agroholdings will have a huge problem with EU membership, they will just invent some kind of other wording. npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…85zk @nprofile…kwpm By the way, here’s a collage of videos that YouTube is showing me today from Ukrainian media I follow. Because many of them I’ve followed for a long time, I cannot but notice a rapid change in their attitude that happened over the last 1-2 weeks, when the same media published a lot of videos on that topic but with more balanced and conciliatory titles. Which makes me suspect that there were some grants from Presidential Administration to escalate the situation even further, because these vicious clickbaits are entirely different in tone from what I saw weeks ago. Here’s a sample for those who can’t read Ukrainian: “Ukraine is playing in higher league, Poland is nowhere near” “Fear of competition, the roots of Polish shauvinism” “Polish Ukrainophobia as 1930’s antisemitism” “The final solution to the Ukrainian question” “Shock!? Hunt for Ukrainians starts in Poland” “Poland raised a new ultimatum to Ukraine!” I’m sorry to say, but it’s 1:1 mirror of Russian media headlines about Ukraine in 2014… P.S. ironically, the one in Polish that got in the middle is quite emphatic “Kharkiv - chronicle of survival” documentary from Poland’s OSW, describing genocidal attacks by Russia on Kharkiv https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/d20a89ab5bda6c674fa3e22b77e4a722ee5ed6593653af34fa54e881c2057256.png?name=y6MKeNdCxehC5A.png npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…kwpm I agree, but if you scroll up to the beginning to the thread you will see to whose public statements I was responding. npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…kwpm And no, I’m not making any “soft suggestion” - I’m saying straight away that Zelensky is quite decisively playing the anti-Polish card for the sake of internal politics (electoral campaign?), while Ukrainian state (Sybiha, Sviridenko) are doing normal foreign relations in addition to trying to damage control. npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…kwpm I’m very much aware of the reasons why Euromaidan happened, but we’re speaking of the whole Ukrainian society, not only the decisively pro-European fraction of it. But Euromaidan was when? In 2013, and Poland joined EU when? In 2004, starting preparations at least decade before. Poland joined NATO in 1997, while the support for joining NATO in Ukraine was low even after 2014, only in 2014 it was officially written into the Constitution. Also, quite curiously, you skipped four full paragraphs of what I wrote only to focus on on one sentence in the last paragraph, about EU. Does that mean you generally agree with the remaining part of my comment? P.S. you’re certainly aware of what happened today - finding the body of the woman who was suspected in attack on Yermolaev, where active HUR officer was now arrested? You think nobody in SBU or President’s Office had no clue about this before? Or that Zelensky doesn’t know about what’s going on in Dnipro? @nprofile…85zk npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…kwpm The primary problem with Poles and Ukrainians is that in their majority they have emotional control of a 5 years old and zero ability to verify anything. The amount of Russian fakes about Ukraine shared by Poles on social media is stunning, only two days ago I was going around on Twitter and explaining to Ukrainians that the video they furiously shared about “Poles want Lviv back” was produced by a Russian journalist (!) living in Tiraspol (!) but they did not give a shit because they liked how it hits Poles. In socio-cultural evolutionary terms I’m more and more convinced that the Western Slavic nations simply never developed sufficient statehood instinct to be able to be able to defend their statehood in long term. We simply prefer short-term excitation, childish emotions and silly utopias over long-term pragmatic political work. As result, we’re doomed to repeat what our equally moronic ancestors did in XVII and XX century and continue fighting with ourselves to the joy of Moscow. Poles are even more ridiculous here, because there’s now 50/50 split and one half is fighting the other, plus some are fighting Ukraine, plus some are fighting EU. In the long term however, past Polish governments had enough brains to get us into NATO and EU, while Ukrainians for decades preferred to suspended between EU and Russia, until they finally lost Crimea and kind of saw what’s going on - for a moment, because shortly after all the well-known shit was back - like corruption, “Dnipro call centers”, bribes to avoid mobilisation while politicians send children abroad. And NATO nor EU were never priority, because that would mean getting rid of the above. @nprofile…85zk npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…kwpm I’ve also heard the argument raised countless times before the war - “we’re at economic crisis” past 2000, “we’re at hybrid war” past 2014 etc. There was never a good time, and never will be, because now it will be “we’re rebuilding after war now”. I don’t buy that argument, because plenty of Ukrainian politicians are not fighting but doing politics (Vyatrovych now does daily rounds on Ukrainian TV stations), or just making money, sometimes using rather dirty schemes (“Dnipro call centers”) and nobody says “don’t do this, it’s war”. By the way, Myrotvorets doesn’t give a shit about the war either: One of the Polish president’s closest aides, Zbigniew Bogucki, has been put on a list of enemies of Ukraine. The list is put together by Myrotvorets – a controversial Ukrainian NGO, who named Bogucki as a, quote, “threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.” npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…kwpm I don’t think there’s some kind of “mutual escalation” here. Zelensky made a decision to name a military unit after UPA - it was his decision, made in public. Polish side - in a quite unusual unity - said it’s honoring a military organisation known for mass war crimes on Poles, but I’m not aware of any “ultimatums” it has raised towards Ukraine. Quite the opposite, Tusk (PM) statements highlighted the strategic alliance between Poland and Ukraine and the need for continued military support, while also criticizing the UPA decision in a very diplomatic language. At the Ukraine’s diplomacy level, there were numerous attempts to deescalate - minister Sybiha, prime minister Svyrydenko all made very reasonable statements. However, Zelensky seems to run a separate foreign policy in this aspect - and it’s possible he’s even entitled to do so, because Ukraine is a presidential-parliamentary republic unlike Poland, where president’s role is very limited. Or more precisely, it’s limited legally but not in PR terms, unfortunately. He can’t do much legally, but he can cause a lot of harm my mere making statements. The publication of the PAC-3 donation to Ukraine in my opinion was 100% Russian disintegration operation - they leaked it to right-wing politicians in Poland and the government was forced to respond to that. Why is Ukrainian president escalating in such a situation is well beyond me, but the fact that his ratings have benefited from this scandal - just as Nawrocki’s, who also runs a separate foreign policy, although mostly on words - suggests that both are simply in electoral campaign mode already and don’t give a shit about foreign relations with “weak” neighbours like Poland. It also suggests there will be even more escalation between the presidents, while our governments will scratch their heads on how to do any damage control in such an absurd situation. npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 #Ukraine Budanov[^1] about relations with #Poland Budanov had warned publicly that the standoff’s worst moment might still be ahead — a forecast he repeated without softening. With the July 11 anniversary of the Volyn tragedy now less than a week away, he said his information points to a “whole series of, as I see it, immature escalatory steps” still being prepared in Warsaw, and expects the friction to continue accordingly. (…) No offense to Poland, but it’s somewhat more powerful than Poland — and we didn’t accept its ultimatum either. Yes, it was hard, it was bad, there was a lot of blood. But we didn’t accept even their ultimatum. So why would anyone think we’d accept something else from another side? You don’t negotiate with us through ultimatums. Meanwhile[^2] The Polish government carried out a discreet transfer of surface-to-air missiles from the MIM-104 Patriot long range air defence system to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, with this reported by multiple regional sources to have occurred in the spring of 2026. I don’t think you need to be extremely insightful to see where this is going. They key misunderstanding is that Putin does not think in terms of the rational interests of the Russian state – if that were the case, he would not have annexed Crimea, let alone started a full-scale war, but would simply have been quietly counting the money from the sale of hydrocarbons. Putin thinks solely within the framework of a world of paranoia, phobias, cognitive distortions and megalomania (“we are like Peter the Great”) that he has constructed for himself, in which an attack on NATO is entirely justified. Let me remind you of his words, I believe from around 2024 – “we will go to heaven as martyrs, whilst they will simply croak”. This is the logic of ISIS – it may seem absurd or incomprehensible to us… but it is a fact. It drove ISIS do terrible things and ultimately lose, but this rather easy to predict perspective did not prevent them from doing them in the first place. At the same time, #Russia, as an authoritarian state, lacks the mechanisms typical of democracies to curb a leader’s cognitive issues, because all its institutions – from the National Security Council to the Duma – are mere rubber-stamp machines for Putin’s decisions, as was perfectly evident on 21 February 2022. npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 If you’re a #Linux admin just entering holiday mode, you’ll be excited to find out there’s a new local privilege escalation Linux kernel exploit, no workarounds ☺️ https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2026-46242 npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 Fanatics on both sides - Musk, Le Pen and the anti-AC movement - forget that a air conditioner and heat pump are one and the same device. I avoided the topic of #Poland #Ukraine row over UPA, but today general Kyrylo Budanov announced the following[^1] No one will ever again dictate to Ukrainians which heroes to honor, which holidays to celebrate, or which history to study. Our ancestors fought for centuries for this right to freedom of choice and national independence, and it is for this very right that our warriors are shedding their blood today. Their memory must live on forever. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada the draft law “On the Ukrainian National Pantheon.” This is a decisive and much-needed step toward restoring historical justice, consolidating our society, and laying the foundation of memory for future generations. This document is a testament to our maturity as a state. Also today President Zelensky said in an interview to Polish media[^2] No one and never will anyone dictate to us how to live, how to speak, whom to love, whom to be grateful to, and which heroes to respect. I will start from a reminder, that the “dictate” is already in place since 2015 when Ukraine’s Rada enacted a controversial law which makes it a criminal offence to “deny the legitimacy of the struggle for the independence of Ukraine in the 20th century” by organisations such as OUN and UPA. Essentially, if someone in Ukraine wants to dispute the goals and methods of OUN and UPA - which included killing political opponents inside Ukraine because they were “too conciliatory” or wanted Ukraine to be democratic, they are breaking the law.[^3][^4] If you are surprised that OUN and UPA considered democratic movements in Ukraine to be enemies, that’s not a mistake. OUN and UPA had a very clear vision of Ukraine as a non-democratic, ethnically clean state with single state-supported religion, limited press freedom, state-controlled corporationist economy led by a single authoritarian Leader. I’m intentionally avoiding any labels attributed to this program by political scientists.[^5] Only a few days ago Ukraine celebrated the Day of Constitution, which was first introduced in 1918 by ZUNR (Western Ukraine People’s Republic) and UNR (Ukraine People’s Republic).[^6] But both OUN and UPA considered ZUNR and UNR to be failures specifically due to what they perceived as “endless haggling” in democracy, solution to which was expected to be the autocratic rule of a the Leader of the nation. The OUN/UPA state would likely have no constitution at all. It’s also ironic that this “endless haggling” did not spare OUN, which went through numerous fraction splits (OUN-B, OUN-M) and then even more absurdly with UPA, which was originally crated by moderate Taras Bulba-Borovets[^4] who was then chased by OUN-B radicals who forced him into exile, killed his wife and took over the name of UPA.[^7] At the end of the day and as result of this infighting, only the most extreme fraction of UPA led by Dmytro Klyachkivsky and Roman Shukhevych was left fighting to the “ethnically pure” independent Ukraine. And they happen to be part of the “pantheon of heroes” while most Ukrainians seem to be totally unaware what their actual goals and methods were. I will skip the whole incendiary topic of UPA and Polish population, but I will just reiterate that Ukraine politically is a very diverse society and unlike many populists on both sides I’m not going to aggregate it into “all Ukrainians love UPA” or “all Ukrainians support Zelensky”. I’m continuing the people and army of Ukraine regardless of what century-old symbols they choose, even if I don’t like them, but I’m also not going to sit silent about the history of the people politically nominated to be “unquestioned heroes”. If you need a legal act to make them “unquestioned” then it usually means there’s something questionable about them. If we starve our data infrastructure of cooling resources just to sustain baseline human comfort, we are actively delaying the birth of a super-intelligence that could solve all of our resource problems in the first place. Sometimes you have to prioritize the intelligence that will save us over the biology that slows us down. I have a déjà vu of reading about US eugenics program from 1930’s - I think it was Edwin Black’s “War Against the Weak” (2003), a book much recommended. Bezos is not wrong when he says AI can solve “human resource problems”, but having a physical ability to do something and actually doing it are two different things. If AI was advising Putin it would certainly advise him against starting the war in 2014, same for Trump in Iran. At the same time, AI would certainly advise IGRC against nuclear weapons program whose only purpose is destruction of Israel at any cost, hanging people publicly on cranes or punishing “promiscuous women” (read: exposing their hair) by pouring acid in their faces. AI would also advise Hamas against stealing humanitarian support and using it to produce weapons, warn warring parties in Sudan of aggravating the famine etc etc. The whole point of AI by politicians however is that they will naturally not give up the ability to project their biases, fallacies and phobias onto their politics, but instead they will use AI to project them more effectively. npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 Local authorities of #Vorkuta #Russia have demolished a monument to the memory of victims of #GULag buried in a mass grave underneath. They also claimed they were “Nazis from UPA” but the problem is that the birth dates indicate than when UPA operated they were at most 14-15 years old. Smith, writing in the 18th century, had some very explicit warnings to them: Wherever there is great property, there is great inequality. For one very rich man, there must be at least five hundred poor, and the affluence of the few supposes the indigence of the many. The affluence of the rich excites the indignation of the poor, who are often both driven by want, and prompted by envy, to invade his possessions. (“Inquiry…”, Chapter VIII) There’s many thoughts in Smith’s “An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations” (1776) and “Theory of Moral Sentiments” (TMS, 1777), similar in this spirit, which perfectly explain what we’re now seeing in Europe and USA. As crazy as it may sounds to today’s libertarians, both Smith’s books are largely founded on the idea that it’s… morality and justice that are foundations of any society and economy, not the other way around. Society may subsist, though not in the most comfortable state, without beneficence; but the prevalence of injustice must utterly destroy it. (…) Justice, on the contrary, is the main pillar that upholds the whole edifice. If it is removed, the great, the immense fabric of human society … must in a moment crumble into atoms (“Theory…”, Chapter III) In the “Inquiry…” Smith postulated, no more, o less, but public education for the poor, public works and infrastructure for both public benefit and employment, certain forms of taxation that fall more heavily on luxury consumption or rents, regulation where markets alone produced harmful outcomes (so much of your “totally free market”, libertarians) and criticism of some English-specific laws that trapped poor workers in particular regions. Smith clearly opposed violence (which Marx and Engels made central part of their dystopia as a “purging force”), but warned that violence is the undesired yet unavoidable outcome of prolonged injustice. Re-reading parts of Smith today, and it’s not easy due to his archaic language, I would say he was pretty supporter of social-democratic organisation of society with free market as the primary economic instrument, whose actual freedom (from monopolies and rentiers) is ensured by regulation. It’s very sad today Smith was reduced to “abandon all regulation” by people who clearly had never read him… npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 Cable management… https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/aff015a9d355a239d38bc67497329d3d143b3e8933f62d3d515733dd801a9beb.png?name=jUuBcgvcJJUKGg.png npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…g39c This is the narrative voiced by Snowden and Assange, and I’m skeptical of what they say. This “through Moscow” versus “to Moscow” is just semantics, physically the effect was identical. Remember, Assange traveled to Russia a lot before, he couldn’t have known how the “legal system” operates there. Personally, I believe once he landed in Moscow, any talk of asylum elsewhere was pointless because Russia wouldn’t let him go under one pretext or another. You can compare Snowden’s choice against e.g. Chelsea Manning who was also sentenced for release of secret US documents. She was sentenced in the US and since 2017 she’s a free person, traveling and giving lectures as she likes. Snowden on the other hand is imprisoned for life, I doubt Russia would release him under any conditions. @nprofile…zlca npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…zlca I think he acted in good will prior to meeting Assange, who sent him to Moscow perfectly knowing how it will end. The author focuses a lot on depoliticisation, a mechanism through which Russian elites (not to mention the whole society) gradually lost any agency and became cogs in the wheel, ready to comply with any Kremlin demands, regardless how absurd they are or how often they change. I recommend the whole article, even through an auto-translator, here’s just a few conclusions about today’s state of Russian administration: This administrative ‘efficiency’ comes at a high institutional cost. Firstly, the scope for deviating from standard procedures is expanding. Decisions are taken at the top, often in an arbitrary manner, and are then simply formalised in accordance with procedure. This is what happens, for example, with the scheme to send ‘volunteers’ to the front line. Secondly, state policy is being replaced by a series of improvisations aimed at immediate results. This includes, for example, the government’s fight against rising egg prices, which led to overproduction and losses for producers. Thirdly, the distortion of information has reached such depths that even the highest levels of the bureaucracy are working with an incomplete or biased picture of reality. Since the start of the war, a significant portion of economic and judicial statistics in Russia has been withheld. But whilst inaccessible to external observers, this information is also withheld from the bureaucracy and the business sector themselves. As a result of the combination of these three factors, members of the elite, who are supposed to act as a counterweight to the autocrat, lose their agency and become mere executors of the president’s will — sycophants and lackeys, sensitive to the autocrat’s mood and prioritising his comfort above all else. Here’s a random sample comment from Bsky: China is way ahead of us! The best part of this is when you mention it to conservatives they just melt. China’s advance is crushing the capitalist narrative. It’s wild and hopeful. This phenomenon largely mirrors the 20th century’s left-wing fascination with huge projects done by Soviet Union. I’m in turn fascinated by people’s blindness to the fact that what makes authoritarian countries so decisive is precisely what causes large infrastructure projects to fail in EU, UK or US. Any large project in EU goes through endless consultations with experts, local communities and environmental activist groups from all EU. Then there’s trade unions, who demand pay and working hours (can you imagine!). Then there’s expensive environmental safeguards like fish protection in Hinkley Point C or wildlife bridges across highways or railways. A rare species nesting place can delay the whole multi-billion project by years. Because biodiversity is more expensive than just bulldozing the whole place. Guess who does none of that? Soviets didn’t give a shit about some rare frogs, or even rare indigenous people as it came to large infrastructure projects. Or environmental consequences, for that matter. When Western socialists in 20th century were fascinated by large Soviet terraforming projects (e.g. Northern river reversal, check out how it ended) they didn’t think about GULag forced labour, zero concern about environment or local protest. There was simply no such thing as “local protests” in USSR, so why bother? Today you’d also add very low CO2 emission price in China. It’s quite an interesting sociological phenomenon - being fascinated by an authoritarian country doing none of what you consider top social achievements in your country, like unions, environmental standards, consultations… because that indeed delays things and costs money. So at the end of the day we have an absurd situation where we have all these high standards which nobody really needs. EU or UK could demonstrate to the world how to produce steel in an environment friendly and low emission way… but nobody needs that steel - its manufacturing moved to China because it’s cheaper there. And CO2? Who cares, as long as it’s emitted somewhere else (in reality, climate only cares about global net emissions). Personally, I believe if EU indeed wants to pioneer the sustainable industry, it’s doable but it needs protection with tariffs, just like it does with its farming industry, or like Switzerland does with almost every its sector. There’s now some progress with CBAM, that’s only 20 years after we introduced ETS. But in the first place we need to explain to its citizens that yes, if you want PV you first need to mine stuff somewhere and if you want to protect the global climate, it needs to be done in EU. And yes, it will be more expensive than Chinese. And yes, that means building a mine in a place where there was a nice forest or something. If you can’t mine something in EU, you will need to require your supplier to comply with the same environmental standards as you do. Otherwise it’s just pure hypocrisy. npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 Zakup rocznej subskrypcji na “Nową Fantastykę” to była moja najlepsza decyzja czytelnicza ostatniego czasu 👌 npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…ndxd Here’s the promised German Greens, Greenpeace & WWF collection of misinformation combined with their justifications for keeping fossil fuels https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/b1d216f0e302373898d002df4ff2a0e97d654a744b1ecd09e0469d3aa1051636.png?name=HpZrmm_J2D312w.png https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/1b53a4b863ced66f9080dc9e43cc4981c04a4930900a55a375d6ac5451fa755a.png?name=uXEaA0e3rouDrg.png https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/43681b26a37434131bc4015cca8f1baefad7293fa6f1951303d382031ef3b114.png?name=PZNWClrsniao5w.png https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/63171df0f96649328080e503e3be47f6ec28e52392f3735f4a35d32a115d5bc7.png?name=Ib1p36Ok2GIFvA.png https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/289fc0a870f0191a84e3aa2885b54055ac7eb0db5233cf528031713c0bc89874.png?name=ATQw-nJcehMxgw.png https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/642e99e721b0be514e65b71e1b3caed7651704321b09a36f4d1a679b2281545c.png?name=3vD1cyIa6Nw6xw.png https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/00f79a21a954b041e52cde177455b76cde662bf05ff8f76a4ac3f6c00d9dc50d.png?name=_5_Ny8AB1C-_aQ.png https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/fc7b71f35e9740648fc88e8298f2c3ac961321ccc7f9239200487db9b870ccef.png?name=PTY7lpQmnlregA.png https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/e3a8d530c9c0add35343701f31bcbc1340eba6c83daff8b00f266bc028ffe450.png?name=pmBKbZwK6yblQw.png npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…tg2e That’s my very point :) The whole paraphrase in quotes is one chain of falsehoods and half-truths, unfortunately I’ve seen them used by various anti-nuclear greens all the time. Russian society today is not psychologically ready for such an option; consequently, the authorities cannot even discuss such conditions in theory. The chance to extricate ourselves from the war will not arise until society has matured enough to understand the inevitability of a complete withdrawal from Ukrainian territory and has come to terms with this reality. However, we thought the same in 2021-2022. The problem with Putin is in the the cage of axioms he has built for himself, by literal decades of multi-layered cognitive biases reinforced by positive feedback loops he created by kicking experts he did not like, and replacing them with yes-men. In his own framework, Putin simply has no other choice: the phrase “Putin is Russia, Russia is Putin” is the first axiom; objectively, war is of course a huge threat to the Russian state, but at the same time the crowning achievement of Putin’s personal career “Putin’s power is sacred” is the second axiom, according to which Putin cannot lose… because he simply cannot a ceasefire in any form without the lifting of sanctions would mean Russia’s slow economic death – regardless of how Putin “sells” it in the media, everyone in Russia understands this a ceasefire involving a withdrawal from parts of the territory, which could result in a weakening of sanctions, would personally spell the end of Putin’s image Putin cannot withdraw from territories he himself declared annexed in 2022, with tales of ‘referendums’ and ‘constitutional enshrinement’, because it was his personal decision A major Russian offensive leading to some territorial success (e.g. the complete capture of the Donbas) – but it has been going on for a year and has only served to weaken the potential of Russian offensive forces; currently, the official promises are “the Donbas by the end of the year”, which is hardly realistic the Russian general staff have come to terms with the fact that Putin lives in a different world and his political goals are plucked out of thin air, but they suffer no harm as they earn millions, so they maintain the fiction the dominant narrative among the ‘siloviki’ is ‘we may have made mistakes, but we must see it through to the end’, because in the system of ‘sacred power’ built by Putin there is no room for anything else; the fact that ‘to the end’ might mean the end of Russia and/or Putin is simply not mentioned It is mainly the military personnel close to the front line who speak of the need to withdraw from the war before a catastrophe occurs, but no one listens to them because they are there to carry out orders, not to question them Leaving aside the physical world, if we accept for a moment the framework Putin has imposed on himself, escalation is the only way out of this situation available to him – and perhaps the only one he knows. The only question is whether this will be an escalation towards Ukraine or towards NATO (hybrid). The former will end like Volchansk; the latter involves more unknowns due to the as yet unknown reaction of NATO and the EU, and is therefore potentially more attractive to Putin. I do not see this as an actual threat for EU or NATO, because with the right response, that Europe is 100% able to execute, this will bring the much desired “to the end” to Putin very fast. What I see as a much bigger threat is large countries fearing “destabilisation of Russia” more than EU losing part of its territory to another Russia-controlled blackhole, however small. npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 #Russia statements regarding attacks on Kyiv on a single day: “Since Ukraine did not attack Moscow, there are no attacks on Kyiv in accordance with the agreement” - Yuri Ushakov, an adviser to the President of the Russian Federation “Russian forces carried out retaliatory strikes on Kyiv” - Russian Ministry of Defense “The Ukrainians blew up this apartment building themselves” - military channel “Zapiski Veterana” Meanwhile #Ukraine requested an emergency UN meeting in response to these attacks: Sybiha stated that between 6:00 PM on May 13 and 8:00 AM on May 14, Russia launched 675 drones and 56 missiles, including ballistic missiles. In the time left until that moment, it is realistic to ensure that silence takes effect. We will act reciprocally starting from that moment. It is time for Russian leaders to take real steps to end their war, especially since Russia’s Defense Ministry believes it cannot hold a parade in Moscow without Ukraine’s goodwill. Clever. The word “reciprocity” is what will piss off Russians the most here, because the whole point of Putin’s unilateral declaration was to demonstrate he’s giving an order to a serf from the height of his throne, not doing diplomacy. npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 In #Poland there was one interesting figure Iwo Czerniawski that was active on the left-wing scene back in 2000’s but since then largely became disillusioned, cynical and retracted himself from political life. Nonetheless, I’ve recently stumbled upon one of his few public statements made in 2022[^1] and wanted to highlight it, as it’s a textbook example of the mess that long-term exposure to #Marxism historical materialism makes of people’s brains. There are a number of reasons why this had to happen. Russian intervention in Ukraine was inevitable. This is not a conflict between Russia and Ukraine. It is an attempt to establish a new geopolitical order, according to the experts responsible for shaping Russia’s current policy – a measures deemed essential to safeguard Russian statehood. Let’s hold here - “measures deemed essential to safeguard Russian statehood” – which statehood exactly and “deemed essential” by whom? “Deemed essential” by Putin in order to protect Putin’s self-perpetuating kleptocracy? That’s the only context where this statement makes sense semantically. But what exactly laws of physics compel Russian society to live under such a system? Did anyone actually ask Russian society if they want to live under such “statehood” and “protect it”? Well, obviously there’s no objective reasons for any of the above. This thinking where “Russia is compelled” it is solely the result of the internalisation of historical determinism, which is extremely contagious among former Marxists. In other words, they believe “Russia must” do things because that is what the “iron laws of history” dictate. And this is, of course, pseudoscientific nonsense, a kind of quasi-religious belief with no factual evidence. In the quoted paragraph, we find plenty of these “musts”. Let me highlight the sheer absurdity of this narrative – on the one hand, Russia is the largest country in the world and Putin the most powerful ruler, and all it takes is for Putin to “raise an eyebrow for Kyiv to fall” (a direct quote from Solovyov). And at the same time, this omnipotent Putin and this mighty Russia are constantly “having to” do something. First, he “had to” take over all state and public media; then he “had to” kill journalists; then he “had to” violate the constitution by running for a third term; then he “had to” annex Crimea, and so on. Now he has reached the stage where he “has to” put 1.5 million Russians through the meat grinder… for what exactly? To capture Pleshchiyivka in the Donetsk Oblast? The double think of people who subscribe to this strange brand of historicism lies precisely in the fact that, on the one hand, with a certain masochistic zeal, they admire Putin’s omnipotent, extremely authoritarian system, which is not constrained by all this “democratic drivel”; and on the other hand, in the very same breath, they deny Putin any agency whatsoever, reducing him to the role of a passive pawn of some mysterious laws of history. And they switch between these entirely opposing narratives as they wish. Well, but when it comes to double think, fans of Marxism and materialist dialectics have never had a problem. 😉 [^1]: https://efir7.pl/artykuly/co-robic-konflikt-na-ukrainie-2022-potrzebna-nowa-cywilizacja-moje-stanowisko-iwo npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 #Russia mercenary wounded during a failed attempt to occupy #Ukraine moans that Ukrainians are “worse than Germans” because when he tried to invade them, the defenders tried to kill him using all available means. https://video.echelon.pl/w/9mpHHJRa4QzZSQuh56VgcG Next in the genre: #Russophobia, “because they defend from our invasion!” npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 1 May 2004 a whole new group of countries joined #EuropeanUnion - #Cyprus, #Czechia, #Estonia, #Hungary, #Latvia, #Lithuania, #Malta, #Poland, #Slovakia, and #Slovenia Congratulations to all of the above, everyone who joined later and everyone who should join soon! 🤗 https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/55cebd9f021a740aece0475554a61a4eadab3f78d674e5e6b5a3d99dcb0b06ab.png?name=HgxmvZ-Lc-rfTg.png npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 If you wonder how #USSR celebrated 1 May 1941, here’s video from Red Square parade of that day: https://video.echelon.pl/w/eEbSWTpfyUzWSQqbpAk4g6 npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 After seeing trojanised #npm packages use #Ethereum API public endpoints to pull command & control IP/hostnames to avoid detection, I’ve built a list of such endpoint domains, maybe someone will find it useful: https://git.sr.ht/~kravietz/crypto-domains I’m using it for Squid blocklist on OPNsense but it can be easily used to build Suricata/Snort rules. Its purpose is to demonstrate that the negative effects of #Chornobyl disaster last even 40 years after it happened. The color coding for Cesium-137 content is the essence of this manipulation, because red suggests its something dramatically exceeding the norm but the scale next to it shows the highest content is ~48 kBq/m2. Let’s now convert it into actual radiation dose ingested by a potential consumer. The calculation is conveniently provided by Germany’s own Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz[^2] The ingestion of 80,000 becquerel caesium-137 corresponds to an exposure of about 1 millisievert for adults. For reference, a single CT full-body scan delivers 10–30 mSv. So if you somehow consumed all mushroom completely covering 1 m2 of the “polluted” land you’d receive 0.05-0.15 of a CT scan (because the max is 58 kBq/m2 and in the example above they use 80 kBq). But the BfS example actually also conveniently refers to the actual mushroom consumption too: The consumption of 200 grams of mushrooms with 1,000 becquerel caesium-137 per kilogram results in an exposure of 0.0025 millisievert. This is considerably less than the radiation exposure during a flight from Frankfurt to Gran Canaria. This is no exaggeration, nor is it ‘dramatic language’ – it is simply a statement of fact. It is not really that emotional, when you think about it. In essence, what is happening there now is like Hiroshima, only without the radiation. Due to the massive fire at the oil terminals, ‘oil rain’ has been falling on the city and surrounding areas since yesterday, killing flora and fauna. The land is poisoned. In another post he writes[^2] The town of Tuapse no longer exists. It has been destroyed. That is a fact. The soil there is poisoned, the water is poisoned, the air is poisoned. Right now, black rain is falling there, just like in Hiroshima – water mixed with oil soot. It is killing the vegetation, the insects and the birds. As for the people, the consequences are equally predictable. Russia could have easily stopped this mutual exchange of long-range aerial attacks. Of course, the easiest way was not to start the invasion on Ukraine in 2022. But even since then Ukraine several times proposed, including US mediation, a limited ceasefire specifically on long-range attacks against energy infrastructure. Russia always rejected this - initially because Ukraine “had no cards”, meaning it had no technical means to respond, but for at least at year it has. So Ukraine responds, and Russians are clearly experiencing it. In military doctrine it’s called “moving the military activities to the attacker’s territory” to impose the cost of invasion on them, rather than the attacked. But you would be mistaken if you expected that - after five years of merciless pounding of Ukraine towns, hospitals and power stations with rockets and bombs accompanied with explicit statements that their purpose is to make the towns “unlivable” - the Russian bloggers would be calling to stop this madness. Quite the opposite, the same “Shakespeare”[^1] ends his apocalyptic description with the following appeal: Who will be held accountable, and how, for the fact that since 2022 they’ve been stringing Ukraine along, telling us we’re ‘’good boys’, only to end up turning Tuapse into a second Hiroshima? What he refers to is a popular Russian TV narrative that “we haven’t started yet” and that “Russia is moving so slow because it spares civilians”. What he calls for is to increase the intensity of attacks on Ukrainian population, but there’s just one problem - there’s no more terror they can impose, Russians are already at their peak performance, and possibly passed the peak last winter, which they very much hoped would “break Ukraine’s back” - but it didn’t. npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 In a recent discussion with some Western “socialists” the usual incendiary topic of “who owns Eastern Europe” arose. The “socialist” crowd is unfortunately plagued by Soviet and now Russian narratives, which are outright distortion of history on a scale you can’t imagine. It’s literally as if someone seriously argued “England owns USA because people there speak English” in 2026 and that was repeated by respected authors on World Socialist Website and the likes. The territory of today’s #Ukraine was originally called Rus’ (Ruthenia), with the same language, religion and culture as today’s Ukraine. It was a powerful player already in 10-11th century, when Moscow did not even exist as a place. As a matter of fact, Rus’ was one of the largest states in Europe back then. The name “Ukraine” appears in written sources in 12th century for the first time, but when Ruthenian ambassadors visited Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth parliament in 16th century they were still described as “Rus’ ambassadors”, so Rus/Ruthenia was the still mainstream name and it still referred to what we today know as Ukraine. In 13th century the north-eastern part of Rus’ was invaded by Mongols and was occupied by them until 15th. The vassal state of Mongols on Slavic lands was called “Muscovia” and heavily influenced by Mongol culture and language. That’s when written sources started using the term “Russia” to describe Muscovia. To distinguish between these two, modern historians started referring to the original Rus’ as “Kievan Rus”. And here’s the trick: Moscow simply declared itself the sole successor of ‘Rus’, and claimed that the original Rus, aka Ukraine, never existed. Simple! Nowadays, Russian historians no longer use the term ‘Kievan Rus’’ at all, instead simply referring to the ‘pre-Mongol period’, as any references to Rus’ are inconvenient for them. Yet ironically, old Orthodox Church books are written in an archaic language that is very similar to modern Ukrainian, but not modern Russian. There are many such details that betray the true origins; for example, consider how the letters G and H are written and pronounced. As for cultural differences, Muscovia, aka Russia, is dominated by a collective society in which the concept of individual rights or freedoms does not exist. This is why it adopted totalitarian Bolshevism, and today, Putinism, with such enthusiasm. For the Western Slavs, including the original Ruthenians, Ukrainians and Poles, personal freedoms and rights are a fundamental part of the social structure. Russians deeply despise this “anarchy”, which also rejects the concept of sacred authority of the leader, as seen by the cult of personality that overtook every single implementation of the Russian state. And this is the primary point of conflict between Moscow and Ukraine today, not the language spoken, Nuland or whatever other nonsense you read on “socialist” forums. https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/7b78dd6bafa60d74fb6f2d95f933a1c83d96ae1ad95342e7ffefa62ca2e392d7.png?name=8XlxtFQiNrxi7Q.png npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…8ssu Once again, you have no clue about history of Eastern Europe, you don’t even know how “kings” are called there (not “kings”). The territory of today’s Ukraine called Rus’ - with the same language, religion and culture as today’s Ukraine - was a powerful player already in 10-11th century, when Moscow was basically a swamp. Back then it was called primarily Rus’ (Ruthenia in English) but the name “Ukraine” appears already in 12th century. As a matter of fact, it was one of the largest states in Europe back then. Today Russian historians stopped using the term Rus’ or even “Kievan Rus’” whatsoever and instead simply speak of “pre-Mongol period”, because any references to Rus’ are quite inconvenient for them. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side you automatically help that of the other. Nor is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present one. In practice, ‘he that is not with me is against me’. The idea that you can somehow remain aloof from and superior to the struggle, while living on food which British sailors have to risk their lives to bring you, is a bourgeois illusion bred of money and security. And a strong resemblance to today’s twisted logic where #Russia is kind of morally allowed to do things that would be unimaginable elsewhere, just because “so they are” Mr Savage remarks that ‘according to this type of reasoning, a German or Japanese pacifist would be “objectively pro-British”.’ But of course he would be! That is why pacifist activities are not permitted in those countries (in both of them the penalty is, or can be, beheading) while both the Germans and the Japanese do all they can to encourage the spread of pacifism in British and American territories. And here’s the ancestors of our tankies - “realists”, Chomskys and Mearscheimers… The Germans even run a spurious ‘freedom’ station which serves out pacifist propaganda indistinguishable from that of the P.P.U. They would stimulate pacifism in Russia as well if they could, but in that case they have tougher babies to deal with. In so far as it takes effect at all, pacifist propaganda can only be effective against those countries where a certain amount of freedom of speech is still permitted; in other words it is helpful to totalitarianism. https://www.orwell.ru/library/articles/pacifism/english/e_patw https://akkoma-media.obj.krvtz.net/akkoma-media/37ac70dca313fa8afab78caeacda4dc589f2bb4acada12c2f05dd0082a5a6d4f.png?name=b2WnWtQYJvWYcA.png npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…nwze Uranium mining has the same environmental impact as rare earths mining for magnets and other electronics and allloys used in wind and PV - as a matter of fact they are often mined together because they are present in the same ores :) @nprofile…l7vu @nprofile…fsuf npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…66k4 Moje obserwacje opierają się doświadczeniu z licznych podróży po Azji i Afryce. Wystarczy wyjąc głowę europejskiej strefy komfortu i pojeździć po świecie by zobaczyć, że europejski system wartości jest na tym świecie wyjątkiem a nie regułą. I między innymi dlatego należy go chronić. A taką możliwość z automatu wyłącza migracja nielegalna. Wróćcie do korzeni lewicowości, to ten kontakt z wyborcami odzyskacie. npub1vz555w0w7pdy3l9skg202lkdnjqll4ct67l25f68x2h84e7u7r4qmrqdta kravietz 🦇 @nprofile…66k4 Masz jakieś argumenty poza waleniem “prawacką propagandą” jak młotkiem?
