Both podcasters and advertisers should follow audio best practices (e.g. -16 LUFS ±1 dB), but it's not always the case and hard to enforce. Our Ad Tech (built on iHeart's) normalizes loud ads to -16 LUFS, but only within internal marketplaces. With many external programmatic partners, real-time bidding makes full control nearly impossible.
