Court vendors really need to get their shit together. I can't just keep finding admin priv escalations and document or account leaks every other day. It's all so, so bad - worse than any of my disclosures could ever describe. It's incredibly difficult to not just start selling the things I find. As we speak, Maine and Kansas courts are still recovering from cybersecurity attacks; one of the downed platforms is one I discovered vulns in. Meanwhile, zero vendors have bounties.

The collision was on Nov 3rd, the rentals we set up (which still haven't been reimbursed...) were Nov 3rd, the rental they set up was Nov 14th, and the estimate wasn't until Nov 28th. How the hell is that even close to right?

Context: My wife's car was rear ended over a month ago.
It took the other party's insurance company (State Farm) two weeks to contact us for the first time; it then took another two weeks for them to do an estimate on the vehicle and it'll be 6-8 weeks before any shop in the area will be able to begin repairs.
State Farm is now telling me that I have to return the rental today and that I'll be without one until repairs begin.
That's not right, right? What should I be doing at this point?

My wife and I have had to rent a car for the last few days, because somebody hit her car (everybody is fine, though my 7 year old is still a bit disturbed by it). This last car we're renting was upgraded - much to my dismay - to a Mercedes.

Grammar question:
I keep being told that punctuation should be inside of a quote, "like this." I hate it a lot and break that rule intentionally most of the time. I wrote a sentence today that made me wonder.
1) is this one of those times that breaking the rule is the right thing to do
2) would it typically be written to avoid that? It turns the statement into a question, which is just silly.
The sentence was: Somebody asked "was this you?"
Not adding a period at the end is killing me.

@npub1683…f0qg I guess my (perhaps mistaken) theory would be that the incoming water would begin heating up to the desired bottom temperature by ~16 degrees and the top element would kick on and raise it (up to) another ~16 degrees. My goal would be to reach the rated capacity, rather than the addition capacity.
I think I get what you're saying, but it's hard to visualize. Will think about it some more. Thanks for the info!

@npub1683…f0qg Having just re-watched your water heater explanation and use-as-battery video, I have to wonder how it would work to set the bottom heating element to be extremely low. I don't recall having seen that question answered in any videos, though it likely has and I've just forgotten. Any thoughts on how that might work? If, for example, you set the bottom element to 16 degrees below the top element, it should, in theory, have a similar capacity to what it says on the tank, right?
