On a whim I tried switching to Monego (a derivative of Apple's Monaco font) in my editor/terminal. I was shocked by how legible it remains at small sizes compared to other fonts I've used.
This all makes sense of course seeing as how Monaco dates back to the original Mac. There weren't that many pixels to work with back then. Still, amazed at how many things old-school Apple got so so right.

I'm finally taking some covers off a hobby project I've been working on both to improve at Rust and also to rescue an old email account of mine that has succumbed to junk mail.
All it does at the moment is listen for new messages over IMAP and send them through Ollama with a classification prompt.
Next step is to throw this on a spare mini PC and try it out on some real messages. Oh, I guess I need to actually write some good prompts too...

Yeah, it's possible to get into trouble on both sides (staying at a job vs. hopping). Even if you try do to it right it's also possible to be at an organization that is either too big, too small, too young, or too old to expose you to the full range of consequences of your previous decisions. It's about how much you trust the other parties. In a 1:1 or small group chat scenario there's usually reasonable trust. In a large chat trust is fuzzy, which is why mods exist.

I was just thinking very roughly that R1 is probably broadly comparable to whatever claude-code's model is (likely 3.7-sonnet?). But yeah a lot of people have had success with the qwen-coder models. I think 14b is about the limit of what I can run efficiently atm too.
