It exists client-side now, iirc. Haven't read the spec yet, but you can group them on your own side. It's not a space-equivalent, but it can help on your own side...

I do have compassion with the situation though, but at least people should be *aware* they're using an FSB surveillance system.
There's always friction to move away, and student groups are notoriously hard. I'm sure @npub1h6f…ml87 will be spreading the awareness! 🙂

Maybe it's not exactly equivalent, but Signal does have group chats where only admins are allowed to send messages. They're called announcement-only channels in the Signal source code iirc.

Signal is well-known for all their efforts in metadata protection. As far as I know, XMPP has none of that.
XMPP's E2EE is also an optional mode, which you have to turn on on a client-by-client basis.

I maintain a third-party implementation. Point four is also moot since Signal implemented PNI. Setting a name per contact would be cool, although Signal's threat model doesn't really address anonymity.
Let's not consider XMPP as an alternative to Signal. That's just weird.

The #Sony #Xperia 10 IV with #SailfishOS is the first time I actually liked using a phone, ever since the #Nokia #N9
That includes all the current bugs and issues that *didn't* exist on my Xperia 10 or my original #Jolla.
