I wish medieval gold-standard economics would finally disappear. We no longer have to round up or borrow gold to pay for things.
But we still have people believing in witches, etc. So I guess superstitions do hang on.
But if you're still stuck on "taxes are revenue" & "printing money is borrowing" then:
Top tax rates used to be 90%. Top corp rates used to be much higher as well.
If you restore those tax rates you can "pay for" healthcare, military, social programs, pensions.

Have you noticed that the politicians who say there are "waves" and "invasions" of immigrants are the same politicians who refuse to fight the climate crisis that is causing mass migration that can only get much much worse?

So many people don't know the definition of capitalism is a system where the wealthy (capital) make the decisions on how society's resources are allocated (investment). Government (the public) does not play a role in that decision making. So the decisions are made for their private gain, not the public interest.
Capitalism has nothing to do with "markets" or "freedom" or "competition." Those CAN happen with "government interference" through laws and regulations.
