I had a bizarre experience today. A woman in Amsterdam stopped on her scooter in the middle of the road and pleaded for help. No queue of vehicles formed behind her but a veritable peloton of bicycles dashed past. I said I’m sorry I’m just a tourist from Australia. She said there’s a spider on my windshield. I looked at this poor tiny spider and said “you call that a spider?” in my best Aussie accent as I flicked it off and squished it. Even my arachnophobic wife said she would have happily got rid of it. She has made a lot of progress since we moved to the farm. :-)

He appears to be blaming the GOP loss on the federal government shutdown which he was blaming on the Democrats so it’s the Democrats’ fault the Democrats won these various elections except the one the brown communist Islamic radical won which is definitely the Democrats fault because he was unfairly the Democrat candidate not that nice Mr Cuomo even if he is a bit handsy but who isn’t, are we right? And he didn’t have the hugest crowd and has really bad ratings and it’s crazy you have to flush twice but we always gets two scoops of ice cream and we will get three in our new ballroom.

One of my dams in the #AdelaideHills Many of my neighbours have run out of rainwater for the house. Going to be the hottest day ever in Oodnadatta today at 49 degrees. Lowest rainfall ever in January. 2024 rain was solidly below average and didn’t start properly until May. Surviving to Anzac Day is the goal.

It’s hilarious the Americans can’t kick the Chinese out of their phone tapping system. Part of why they can’t is the system is designed so operators can’t see the “taps”. Even agencies can’t see other agencies. I wonder how well it’s holding up in Australia?

Remember when the government said the new RAH was all single occupancy rooms? They ran out last night so my daughter spent the night in the recovery ward which consists of four bed bays. RAH is telling daughter her mum can’t visit her meanwhile entire Asian family are crammed into the bed area on the other side of the paper screen. Daughter has been waiting for emergency surgery for twenty four hours after being sent home on Monday. Rolling shitshow.

The panels of Quilt 70 were assembled in 1993 and memorialise Andrew Roffe, Graham Ashe, John, Patrick, Peter Brosch, Phillip Wait, Piers Stewart and Sharna. Although research into those remembered and the quilt creators continues, the visual and textual content on each panel provides glimpses into the personality of each person. In the panel for 'Uncle John', a heartfelt poem remembers
*You are a part of us, as you always have been, as you always will be', while John's niece Lisa wrote a touching message that 'No one will ever take your place'

sleeping cat sits centrally on the panel for Peter Brosch, who served on the Queensland AIDS Council board from 1990 to 1992. Phillip Wait was involved with the Adelaide House of the Order of Perpetual Indulgence, a charitable and activist organisation, and Graham Ashe's panel was carefully worked by Mathias Boessen.
A panel heavily decorated with animals and cartoon characters celebrates the life of Piers Stewart, one of the youngest people to live with HIV in South Australia. The panel was lovingly made by his mother, herself living with HIV. The small handprint on the lower part of the panel is that of his brother, and a label on the quilt reads 'handmade for an exceptional little boy'. #radicaltextiles
