Last Notes npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob it’s mental distortion. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Here's some distorted #postcards drawn today. Not exactly #urbansketching, but it's my local urban area. Life is but a dream. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Here's a postcard #urbansketching from yesterday. It's a lot easier when people don't know you're drawing. It skips that unpleasant "are you looking at me" business. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Here's #urbansketching from the coffee shop yesterday. It's 2026 and we're soon to be taken over by robot overlords, but the coffee shop seems the same. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This #urbansketching is from our time being stranded earlier today at an airport out east. Eventually the planes moved again. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This is me workshopping a gift for a niece (lives in this building, and is not on mastodon). Kinda roughly made sketch I believe. #waterColor npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A daily practice makes things look alike. You wouldn't know it, but this is new #urbansketching on envelopes from today, minutes ago. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This in #urbansketching my way, on envelopes. It's a daily thing for me. Each day looks a little different, but the viewer might not see that. Ink on envelope npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This is a rough layout of figure drawings of mine that will be in my advert for an upcoming class in figure sketching w fashion. This will be what the class will be covering. Too boring? npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Here's a couple of #urbansketching, hot off the café table at the local coffee place. I walked home and still have a little coffee left. #inkvember is an ink month where you can just draw what you want. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Sketch of Wu Tang Clan on that super delicate rice paper (dissolves if you pause too long). Ink and brush. #Inkvember インク画（インクが） npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob On the way back from the beach the other day, I pulled off the road and drew this on the back trunk of the car. It's burn-scarred hills in fog. #urbansketching Ink in october, but not #inktober npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Mon dieu, wow npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Here's a little more sketching from the coast yesterday. I'm drawn to sketching people, so if you look closely at the second one, there are very small people on the cliff. #urbansketching npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob I went to see the ocean today for a break. It's still #urbansketching as you can see from the streetlight. In the above sketch, someone walked across my field of vision just as I was starting, so here they are in a sketch. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob I don't want to bore you with yet another Youtube. But if this is a thing you like, or can stand, then here it is: npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob These are some postcards/ #urbansketching from yesterday at the coffee shop. Its a good place on Saturdays. Ink, but not #inktober. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Here's a little more #urbansketching from my vacation almost 2 weeks ago, the London part. Lovely scenes all around. Would have stayed longer if I could afford it. not #inktober npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This is more vacation Not #urbansketching from Wales when I was there 10 days ago. Probably could be called #ruralsketching. Beautiful place with canals and boats. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A little more plein air #ruralsketching, related to #urbansketching but more trees and less buildings and people. Directly from the source ( looking) npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Sketches from yesterday. I’d say #urbansketching, but it’s not urban. Nobody seems to follow #ruralsketching. They are postcards, and a few are written on the back already. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This is my small watercolor painting of DEEP PURPLE, the band that did Smoke On the Water. I enjoy imagining it's 1970 exactly. #bythehandofbob official artwork. #watercolor, #watercolour #smallart npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob My first time posting this to MSTDN. Not sure if anyone would be interested. Have been filming just fast rough sketching on my sketch pad. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Ce7aCTUfZiw #Tutorial npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A sketch in my gigantic #sketchbook from last night. Not #urbansketching, but a sketch done in a place that is urban. She posed like this for a few minutes. It was tiring to hold. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob In 2016 I did an almost daily series of the movement that changed this country. Was trying to explain to a relative/journalist that it wasn't innocent victims being swept up. They were in on it. #bythehandofbob #watercolor npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This is #urbansketching from today on back of envelopes, as #mailart. I'll be mailing these out to some people and then another sketch will be inside. Would these sketches bother you if you received? #bythehandofbob npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This morning's haul of #urbansketching. This is what I captured in the net today. I like the cropping of the one on the left. That seems cool. #bythehandofbob #mailart npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This could be #urbansketching. From a moment ago-- at big mega corp industrial coffee co. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This seems to qualify as #urbansketching. It's an urban area, and it's sketches. Drawn at the corporate coffee place... again. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob It's a sketch I made yesterday in my #sketchbook. Purple pen, because color is pretty. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A few attempts at #urbansketching from yesterday. Drawn at the corporate mega coffee place. I seem to have drawn 3 of them from the exact same spot. Ink and brush on postcards. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Here are 2 more postcards #urbansketching from my vacation last week. It's New England coastal US. There's some old architecture and a carnival was being set up. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob An accordion book (a few pages) #urbansketching at the airport a week ago. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A brief postcard sketch from today #urbansketching npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A today-sketch of a rock just off the shore in the ocean. Ink. Super hot and windy ( my excuses) npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob I haven't counted. But B is making surprising comeback. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Thank you! npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A or B? Which would be your pick? Some very old drawings. I would do the MSTDN survey, but they don't allow images, still. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A drawing from yesterday and friday. In my #sketchbook. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob An #urbansketching from just last minute. It's saturday, and I get to the coffee shop at least on saturdays. Usual crowd, maybe lighter due to vacations. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob #sketchbook page from yesterday. Cowboy with MC Escher jaw. I dunno. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A page from my #sketchbook yesterday. Unrelated to that: Kathe Kollwitz was born yesterday or so, but many years before. She lived till the end of WW2, but was only 14 years younger than Van Gogh. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob #WaterColor Wednesday. This is from 10 months ago-- my guitar island. It was entered in a poster contest by a friend. Did not win. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob How I drew 4-5 years ago. I probably could have kept doing ersatz caricatures, but then, I don't care about stars, what they represent, the shows, the divorces, the fortunes squandered, or the rest. Its only a drawing to me. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob From a minute ago. This is a sketch that isn't very different from the one before it In my #sketchbook. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Here is another sketch you will not like, and I am sorry. I am not sure what drives me to make them. #sketchbook npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Thank you! Buy the pens! Yes, if it's scary that's sort of good, i guess. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob From this minute: A lot of purple marks on 2 facing pages in my wire-bound sketchbook.#ballpoint they sell these pens in stores, you coulda done this. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob For a few weeks, I'm making art I don't even understand. Like even why this, why would someone? I guess its because nobody else did it. Kind of like a bad dream. #Ballpoint npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob is it #urbansketching if just one person on a #postcard? This is from yesterday. Someone sat close and for about 30 seconds I made this record. I handed it to him on the way out and gave the caveat-- it might not be a perfect likeness. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob 8-10 years ago, a throw-away pencil sketch at work depicting the various jobs that were competing for our time. Yep, still did pencil then. It was the poster business, so everything one did.. looked like a poster. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob America before tv everywhere, before cable was baffling and strange. Now it's baffling and strange, but with tv. This is from an old picture. Ballpoint npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Ink on paper the other day. Distortion is a goal, as seen here. Who doesn't remember the Tron poster? Oh, nobody remembers? Oh well. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob From my #sketchbook this moment. A sixties singer, drawing in purple and some session players in orange. The entire purpose of this is putting the hair on separate page. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob #Urbansketching back at my usual coffee shop yesterday. Always lively, less chrome than the west side. Still a huge sketchbook. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This #urbansketching is from friday when I was on the west side of this town for an appointment. Not sure vibe over there is my thing, but the coffee was good. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Another sketch of cowboys from this minute. It is messy, i know. #Firstdraft #ballpoint is a little foreign to me. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A sketch from the way-back machine. 12 years ago, I drew this with an ink-dipped chopstick. The pose is sort of ho-hum, I will admit. Luck of the draw, haha. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Some of the last use of pencil in hollywood concept art.. Mine from just a few years ago, actually. #throwbackthursday npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A 2 page spread in my sketchbook from just this minute in blue pencil. #sketchbook npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A quick charcoal portrait from life (about 23 years ago) when I was merely middle-aged and taught figure-drawing. #thingsIhadforgotten npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Some nonsense from my sketchbook yesterday npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This is #urbansketching from a minute ago in my enormous sketchbook that I bought 6 years ago. 34 inches across. My primitive knowledge of metric would convert 34" to enormous/many centimeters. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This is a sketch in my #sketchbook from yesterday. This theme isn't over. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob My #springCleaning has been a trip way back. This sketch from life is from 21 years ago when I was turning away from academic drawing. Done with a calligraphy pen. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Fashion-ish sketch from decade ago before I stopped going out for sessions-- became too shy, too lazy, then the pandemic, etc.#springCleaning npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Time-killing sketchpage from last wednesday. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob My full accordion book opened as far as I can on the counter at the coffee place where I drew all of it, and more importantly: where I get my coffee. #urbansketching npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Cleaning out my storage and found a pile of my 21 years ago (2004) hollywood concept sketches.. Back then, concept art was not as fancy as you might think.. they looked like this one for Charlotte's web. Just loose pencil on paper. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Sketch of a jungle backyard in Florida. Yes, it’s abstract, but that’s a lotta plants. #urbansketching npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob #urbansketching at the airport today in a new small accordion book. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Thank you! npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Semi-groovy version of Chairmen of the Board. One member, Danny Woods had a birthday the other day. #watercolor #looksbetterinperson npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Yesterday was Carl Perkins' birthday, and this is a spread in my #sketchbook. If you ever need a lift, you could do worse than watching a live Carl Perkins performance. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A sketch from a minute ago at the coffee shop. The feeling of today is remembering back before I was a mannerist after myself, back way in the past, like last week. #urbansketching npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob So cool to see that quoted. Only on mstdn! npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob you get a gold star npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Today is Thomas Hobbes' birthday. And this is a page from my #sketchbook from a moment ago. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A rare effort at figure drawing. The model was dressed up as goddess Kali, though you can't tell here. I don't sketch with groups too often, I find the scene intimidating. #urbansketching npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This is a sketch from a moment ago at the local coffee place. Soon I will be all through this accordion book. #urbansketching #sketchbook npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob From last week in my #sketchbook. Piaf-ish, sort of. I don't regret nothing. That's how we would say it. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A cafe drawing now 2/3 through my accordion book. At risk of repeating myself, I seem to be drawn to sitting in the same spot and composing similarly. #urbansketching npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob An early rough draft of maybe a couple of people that used to be in the pink floyd band. Taking a lyric too literally. #penciltober2025 npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob It would be a shame to separate from the very long piece of paper it is part of. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Funny you should ask. It is in an accordion book, that I think is 70% done. All the sketches in it are somewhat matching and will make one composition when it is finished. I might sell all of it at that point. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This is a cafe sketch from yesterday at the local coffee place. Learning to break the laws of perspective as I have in the last 6 months has helped. #urbansketching npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob My #watercolor retro MC5 faux poster. Kick out the jams, people. My process is, think of something trippy (band as flower), think of Band to depict as such. MC5 seemed good. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Just a minute ago, sketch at my local coffee shop. Subjective stretching is not representative of the actual coffee shop. #urbansketching npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A sketch page by me, just this minute. This is #colored_pencils npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob A sketch page of sketches from a photo I was looking at sort of. Not that it matters, but Gustav Klutsis a handsome designer of constructivism in early 20th century. Stalin's purges got him. Tv stars, movie stars are funny to me. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob no opinion of the character. I distort by nature. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob My #WaterColor parody of the poster for Old Man with Jeff Bridges. People I know produced the actual poster. It blew my mind, so I had to parody it. No undos in watercolor. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Thank you. npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob This is day # unknown of my postcard project. Now with color. Am considering these as my holiday cards for relatives and friends. Is it weird to send a drawing of people in a coffee shop? #urbansketching npub1y2yrngt8nld0f0lpfpzh24e9qeylfkqn0evsum9wgqqvtk0c776sd9ys8l bythehandofbob Coffee shop sketches today. I'm thinking ahead to sending out holiday cards. So, maybe these quick sketches in color on postcards? Could be. #urbansketching
