I was able to make a concrete step today. I got my passport application in at the local post office. The other concrete step I'm taking is removing all news applications from my phone and closing this browser tab for a few days. I have been unable to get much sleep or eat much with the constant stress. I'll be back for #Caturday and #knittersOfMastodon but for my own physical and mental health I have to take a break.

Strangely there are areas of the country where rice just isn't a thing. 🤷 I might not eat rice every day but it will be at least a few times a week. Four years in Okinawa while young put me squarely on that path. Then, as an adult, I've learned different types of Indian cuisine. South Louisiana, where I lived for decades, is very much a rice culture. I can't imagine being without rice. I live alone and have ~ 50# of rice in the house right now. Maybe more.

When large amounts of rice are cooked at places like a cafeteria it is often like that. Many times it is boiled like pasta and drained. Then held in a steam table or hot box. 🤮
