have you ever considered making the wiki engine to have a fork/remix button or a uxn project that lets people make a personal website with a bookmarks page / blogroll?
Social media apps are basically just website generators simplified so welders and chefs and anyone can make a space online to share what they do / make. If we had a healthy alternative made easy and pretty enough that people wanted to use it, the default internet experience would become much healthier.

Same. but i think most people arent going back to typing individual urls anymore because of the convenience of the "feed" format having everything in one place.
I want the good things to be easier than the bad things so the good things become the default.
So I think we needs someone that understands coding and design that can meet people where they are by giving them the convenience mixed with the healthy stuff (personal websites etc)
if we had an app that has a feed like people are used to, but instead uses like a mix of RSS/activitypub for chronological updates, with a WoT ranking system for discovery inbetween the chronological posts, and a way to Pin posts\threads like forums we could have the best of all worlds.
We have all this sugar online buts its only being fed to the average person through candy instead of fruits. Currently only the tech nerds understand how to access the fruits

What ever happened to Web of Trust tools? I remember learning about WoT and swore it would be what we used to combat spam\misinformation online.
instead of algorithms i want people i trust in different subjects to upvote\downvote things to help me discover the best "signals" throughout all the noise online

Anyone have the capacity or spoons to help me transfer away from relying on Linktree? I currently have my domain https://xinnix.org redirect to my linktree. would be cool to move to a linktree alternative that has no cookies or cookie notice
(I dont have the capacity or time or money to self host it so i wanna use a trick like github pages or codeberg pages ideally. So no cookies and no paying or at least no dealing with server issues i wanna set it and forget it for years)

@npub1j2m…ngt0 have you written about how you do the inline translation in Phanpy? Its the only app ive seen that automatically translates text and im assuming it doesnt cost you a ton to do?

The creator of Newgrounds has considered adding ActivityPub support to join the fediverse but is worried it would make their hosting fees untenable by “serving files to millions of people on third party apps“. Can anyone with more knowledge on how this works help them?

Having Newgrounds on the Fediverse would be incredible. Newgrounds has a huge art community, many features not available on any platform and has been around the longest (1999)

I made a thread on the forum about doing a groupbuy for highly effective masks to stay safe(r) during the Handmade Seattle event. I included a link to my favorite mask and some information about the dangers of Covid and Long Covid. Everyone is susceptible to Long Covid.

I dont think ill be able to make it to the meetup in Seattle but we should do a groupbuy of very effective masks to keep everyone safe(r)
My daily use & favorite mask is the black kn100 from ppeo because it has head straps (much more protective than earloops), nose foam (very comfy), its a N95 equivalent (stops viruses sort of like magnets explained in video) & it comes in multiple sizes, plus its black https://ppeo.com/goods/black-kn100-mask/ its about $1 per mask including shipping
