After a long process of trying to find my right fit in Bitcoin, I've joined the team @nprofile…pl3m. Had the amazing fortune to meet the team in-person for my first week on the job. And damn, I'm blown away. Each and every member is both a badass ninja developer, as well as humble, kind and approachable. Couldn't imagine a better situation.
I'll be helping out in a DevOps capacity, supporting these rockstars to have maximal impact while keeping things humming in the background. It's a perfect combination of my past experience with a golden opportunity to learn more protocol, product and finance from some of the best minds in Bitcoin.

Yes, everyday, morning and evening for many years.
Started experimentally, with 10 mins a day and noticed immediate effects in how I handled stress in traffic -- that split second of extra time to consciously decide how to react.

Reviewing AI generated code - it's a travesty that ignorance of the underlying technology on the part of the "viber" is both hidden from themself and also so obvious in a PR.
Reviews increasingly become about social skills in deconstructing ego instead of debating technical implementations on their merits. Find myself lacking the former.
Learning anything new is painful and reading documentation is necessary in know what questions to ask; to others, to yourself or to an AI.

To be fair, security is hard and nobody or organization is perfect, including me.
And nothing wrong with self promotion, especially in open source where funding is scarce or non-existent. But too much overconfidence can be misleading to self and others.

Well said. There are really some abominable security practices out there. And much of the anti establishment attitude and "rebel dev" self-promotion does enough to cover it up and create a sense of false security in the community.

At last, some clarity is emerging out of the fog. It's time to burn the boats.
After quite some time navigating "unemployment", I've come to the realization that I can't go back to abominable world of LinkedIn, corporate bullshit, selling my time, attention and interest for somebody else's "vision", profit or "opportunity". I'm unemployed primarily because some aspect of my soul knows this and won't even allow myself to entertain that world anymore.
Taking the last months reskilling myself toward working in Bitcoin and FOSS, on technologies and projects I actually *enjoy* and believe have meaningful impact for the world, I've been teetering on the brink of fear of stepping into the unknown. What if it doesn't pan out? What if I'm not good enough?
Over the last days, a realization is beginning to dawn. I can't go back to that world. It's soul-killing and if that is ignored, likely body killing as well. I don't know how I'll eventually be able to earn an income, or what I might even end up working on, but I can't go back. And as I've taken my long-delayed baby steps into uncertainty, encouragement and support has shown up in the form of free community support / training programs, inspiring community members and project opportunities. There's so much to learn, so much to be interested in, it's overwhelming. But it's time to throw myself into this world fully and stop puttering around, entertaining the possibility of a backup plan from some LinkedIn recruiter.
Even if I have to start selling my Bitcoin to pay the bills, even if it means starting at the bottom again, with unfamiliar, yet exciting, technologies and projects. Life is meant to be lived and there is no life for me in that LinkedIn, opportunistic, narcissistic world of self promotion that passes for status-quo company culture.
It's time to burn the boats.
I'm writing this primarily for myself, to mark this moment of clarity, for when I might need to look back on it.

Incredibly well put. Helps to recognize how lack of feedback over long, remote software engineering projects can contribute to a build up of dissatisfaction with "work". Always unconsciously compared and contrasted that effect against experience in construction -- build a wall in a day, something exists that didn't exist before, appreciate a tangible monument of progress and let it all go when work is over.

It's a true inspiration toward surrendering to one's fate, to recognizing that suffering *is* consciousness, and finding honor and purpose in "being worthy of one's suffering".
