On my to #Oulu, I had a short interchange in #Tampere. It was a perfect opportunity to check my artworks there!
Two electric boxes along #tramlines bear my design. They were placed in 2021 as part of Tampere Tram Art Program. And they are still in tack!

These two paintings, 110 to 70 cm each, are one of the results of my residency in #potsdam
They represent a rather mundane motif: a train passing behind trees. However, a Potsdam resident may recognise a local tram due to the white and emerald-green livery, and everyone who has ever been to #Berlin can immediately identify yellow-and-red #S-Bahn trains.
Besides a landscape with trains, the paintings have another layer - yellow patches with black linear drawings. Some drawings depict scenes from public transport, whereas others depict scenes from the Potsdam Hausprojekt INWOLE, where the paintings were made.
These scenes include a historical villa, four stars, a symbol of co-housing projects, and two of many chairs I found in the garden. Through the idea of layers, I connected colourful painting and monochrome drawing. Additionally, graphic patches have texture made with wood dust collected from a local wood workshop.

Today, I have learned that #sbahn in #Berlin was not always yellow and red as I thought. In the 1920s and 1930s, the 2nd class carriages were colored in turquoise blue to differentiate from the 3rd class ones.
Some of those trains are preserved by volunteers in the historical Sbahn depot in #Erkner.

For my art residency, I traveled on land from Helsinki all the way to Potsdam. The route took 4 days and was full of great meetings! During the travel, I made many quick sketches which I am now reworking into comic pages (hopefully).
Yesterday, it was an honor to talk about my travel in Spreefeld in #berlin (https://spreefeld.org)
The discussion I was part of connected such topics as co-housing, empty spaces along rail transport infrastructure, slow travel and art making.

Slow travel, art making and connecting with people! This wonderful combination is in the art residency Tiny Spaces Deep Connections which I’m a part of (#tinyspacesconnect )
The residency starts when I left home in Helsinki and set foot in direction to Potsdam. The route takes four days.
The first leg is #helsinki to #turku and then an overnight ferry to #stockholm
While on the road, I’m making a lot of quick sketches which is my main art method in the residency.
