Among the papers cited was one that lead me to discover that tears are studied as a source of chemosignals. Im not an expert but there's a lot of what read like really weird/cringe conclusions in these studies. my conclusion is that we havent been able to detect any real pheromones and chemical signaling in humans because we bathe and wear clothes. someday our species will probably smell of microplastics.

our eng team is massively pushing back. AI adoption for writing code is doing well but lets push out a feature because ai can do it is a no go. Top boss is a DS critic. he told me to my face most DS models are more expensive than the problem they solve. this is kinda sad, because its not true but weirdly this is keeping the feature bloat problem at bay.

the 'anyone' is not ness. the operative word here, it's that more people can hope to do more than was possible. yes, the capture will be power-lawed, but then that is true of everything. i dont know if this is good tech of bad tech, i find it useful, its made my life better, and that is about as far as I can see. copyright is for eg. way way way more a studied and well described force of evil. most scientific knowledge is locked away. we laud sci hub. but why not an embedding of scihub?

people used photoshop to make deepfakes way before, should we discard all tech that has potential for misuse? perhaps programming languages that produce viruses? If anything, the problem seems to be that now almost anyone can do what earlier only the elite could. Anyone can sound like they went to a b-school or did a PhD anyone can generate dreams and plans that go no where, where earlier you needed to be a certain amount of rich/privileged.

one feature i would love to see on fedi is a catch up feed. which is all the people i folllow that post at timezones and time frames with very low overlap. eg. people i follow that are on the US/UK timezones.

One thing i love about snakes is that the same species can take so many different avatars. juveniles have different patterns, different areas have different morphs and even in the same area, they can all look so fabulously different. This for eg. are the morphs of the Malabar Pit Viper (Craspedocephalus malabaricus)

so i learned today that i don't have a "grantable" record. which is to say grant writers cant consider all the work ive done because its in the private sector and so for the study i will design and devleop, imma need someone who has a "grantable" name on the study. and ive been asked to start making my portfolio grantable, which, strangely, requires me to get grants to write papers, which needs me to have a grantable portfolio. they are excellent for wearing for long durations and standing. i discovered this because crocs are insanely popular in operation theaters. and the difference between rubber chappals which is what we used in college, and crocs is so stark plenty places have replaced the OT chappals with crocs. a prof of mine went and bought twnety of these from his trip abroad and that is how it got started in my college. no one wears them outside the OT :)

if i understand history correctly, if you take Iranians, pass them through hot and humid filters, you get (some) Indians, if you pass them through Ultra cold filters, you get nordics and if you pass them through moderately cold and moderately wet filters you get europeans.
