I just want there to be more thought behind these policies in the future
They weren't too blind but there were a couple of times I had to help them

WELP, had to be the eyes of a friend this year at @npub1dqd…8xy4 because they banned her prescription glasses at the last minute and would not make reasonable accommodations, like allowing a sticker over the cameras
Meanwhile, the audience cam was again deployed for Hacker Jeopardy, with tiny blinking LED lights indicating they were recording, just like all of the banned glasses.
(Also, the wording on the glasses policy is atrocious and complete ambiguous:
"Smart glasses and other devices that can record audio or video with no consistent way to understand if they're recording or not, are prohibited at DEF CON, they erode trust and invade people's privacy."
All smart glasses on the market have a consistent way of conveying they are recording or not.
The badges have no such indicator, and people turned them into actual cameras.
@npub12ts…x422, you all can do better. Very disappointed you adversely impacted a nearsighted friend with some last-minute panic about technology that has been publicly available since 2013.)

If the biometrics was just a photo of your face.. . eh, fine
Dunno WHY they want fingerprints (and especially all TEN) when facial recognition is sufficient for entry-exit tracking
Plus they get digitally-signed photos from all ePassports
They seem to be doing this just because they can, and probably also because the US collects them on entry. However, it's not legal to collect them on exit, so they just use facial recognition instead...

between HSTS and the default DEF CON network having WPA2 Enterprise, is there even a need for this anymore? I would imagine most of it is just people trolling.
There's also OWE/"Enhanced Open" WiFi now, although frankly a Pineapple should be able to break that
