Didn’t realize Claude comes with “Age assurance,” nor did I think you needed to be 18 to use it.
"Claude, our consumer product, is only available to people over 18 years. You’ll need to confirm you’re 18 or over while setting up an account. When we detect signals that you may be under 18, we’ll ask you to verify your age before you can continue using Claude."
This is a blanket solution for a nuanced problem. What about ... https://taonaw.com/2026/09/11/didnt-realize-claude-comes-with.html

RSI and Emacs: When Your Pinky Says Enough is Enough: https://taonaw.com/2026/08/16/rsi-and-emacs-when-your.html
I’ve been doing even more Emacs writing lately, and my pinky is paying the price. After years of using Caps Lock as Control, I’m finally feeling the strain. Here’s what happened, what I’m doing about it, and what new ergonomic keyboards I’m considering.

Emacs pinky is becoming a thing for me recently.
I’ve been a happy user of CAPS as control, but recently my pinky started rebelling. My keyboard is non-standard. Time to think of other solutions :(

@nprofile…0pqp Oh, those... ok. Didn't connect earlier. Story:
My partner recently ordered a chair that was on sale (not on Amazon but something similar, I forget, I think wallmart) and got nothing but the shipping slip in the mail. No chair, not even a a piece of wood.
The most annoying part was that he waited for weeks because the chair delivery was "stalled" by customs because terrifs or what not. He got nothing but a piece of paper.
The money was refunded, thankfully.

Seems like some of the pages on my blog are now working as they should. There’s supposed to be an introduction for the Archive page and the Emacs page. I’m using Tiny Theme, and the HTML for those micro-hooks is in place, which makes me think something went wrong with the update I did about a month ago.
I guess rebuilding the blog is the next step - which usually breaks the movies page… stand by….

It’s an hour and a half long video with a long introduction and a video thrown in the middle, probably one of the longer rants by Hank Green, with an interview in the middle by Cal Newport, a computer science professor at Georgetown University.

Yesterday morning, I imported an old-blog post of mine, which discusses org-id and UUIDs in org-mode. It’s a bit of a deep dive into how org-mode works. I find that I don’t do those as much anymore - probably because I mostly use Emacs “as is” with a few packages I use day to day, and my workflow has been pretty much the same (capture templates not included) for the last two years or so. https://taonaw.com/2022/03/15/org-id-org-attach-better.html

I was a paid subscriber to 404 media, but I decided to let my subscription run out this year around. They started to feel too one sided and tend to focus only on AI. Still excellent reporting though, for those things.

I found a post on my old blog that I wanted to bring over, but I ran out of time today. I could copy it as is, but I want to read it again and probably update it.
It was a jolt to get back to work today. Feels like my job is to poke different people to do different things, and they poke others. if you have one or two projects like that, that’s one thing. If your entire agenda revolves around email chains like this, nothing gets done.

Do I need the Zen Browser workflow?: https://taonaw.com/2025/12/26/do-i-need-the-zen.html
I’m trying Zen Browser on Mac after a week of using it on Linux. Do I need it…? I’m not so sure. Onward with the experiment.

Krita is an underrated painting/photo/animation/ai-creation tool you should check out: https://taonaw.com/2025/12/25/215601.html
‘Krita is blowing me away. It has proven to be a powerful and versatile alternative to Photoshop for image editing and generation, especially with its AI integration. If you haven’t, you should check it out. After all, it’s free. '

One thing I managed not to compromise on recently is cooking at home and watching my diet a bit more. Maybe it’s easier for me to do because I already enjoy vegetables, but I took it to the next level after I got my Vitemix. Here’s breakfast with some homemade hummus:

OK, trying zen browser take two…
The KeePass issue is definitely a Flatpak issue. I Installed Zen from tarball - no problem. Works as expected. What I’m not sure about now is if I need to download the browser each time when there’s an update.

Ah ok. KeePassXC doesn’t work with Waterfox or Zen Browser because these two come as Flatpak on Linux, and these are restricted in a way that prevents connection to KeePassXC. I do have FlatSeal… does anyone have any idea what permissions are needed?

Maybe I should try Zen Browser too: https://taonaw.com/2025/12/19/maybe-i-should-try-zen.html
Many folks are seeking alternatives to Firefox due to its declining performance and prioritization of AI features lately. I haven’t used it for a while, but I’m also having hard time with Librewolf and Waterwolf recently, so maybe I should just bite the bullet and try Zen browser?

If I were home now, I’d make myself a nice spicy vegetable soup. I don’t have many good vegan options here.

I think I’m going back to clocking in and out of sub-tasks, even though I said I wouldn’t. It’s easier not to, but the end result, I think, is messier, and I can’t get the clock reports right… on the other hand, it’s kind of an overkill. 🤔 https://taonaw.com/2025/11/14/handling-project-in-emacs-the.html

Finished watching: Better Call Saul S6E3, Rock and Hard Place 📺 Ouch. This one hurt. I liked this guy.
Well… a bit more and I’m done with this show. Good stuff. https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/60059/season/6/episode/3

I couldn’t finish Primitive War 🎥. The story is just too… cliche? Hard to believe? Don’t know. Wasn’t my thing. https://letterboxd.com/film/primitive-war/

Is it just me, or is Apple Workouts acting up? Since the update, it ends walks without prompting while I’m still walking home. During weight training, it aggressively asks if I want to finish after pausing of over a minute I think. I’m multitasking dude, chill!

Sometimes a short nap is all I need. A bit of a snooze and the battery is full after a short night sleep. And in this cold weather… Even more inviting.

Went a bit overboard with spending on gifts. I bought things for myself (the biggest one was the keyboard, without a doubt), but also for my partners and friends. There are also two birthdays around this time, and the look on one of my partners' faces when they saw what I’d gotten them was worth every penny, if you ask me.
All these people adding color to my life, which would otherwise be a constant grumpy gray and dark to navy ... https://taonaw.com/2025/12/10/went-a-bit-overboard-with.html

Manton mentions he likes to work from coffee shops. He doesn’t care about the coffee’s quality that much.
In my case, some places in the city are better than my homemade espresso, and others are worse. Those who fail this test don’t get a second visit from me. It’s about a 50/50 chance. https://www.manton.org/2025/12/08/i-like-this-blog-post.html

Today I figured out how to play the very first part of Fur Elise without writing down the notes. It takes me forever, but I think something gets through my thick skull.

18 In New York City today, and this office is so hot (it’s an old building with steam heat), I had to turn on an AC, because it was going over 80 in here, and I’m layered like an onion… 😒
