I tried COSMIC. I tried Sway. I tried Hyprland.
I went back to i3.
i3 is boring. That's its best feature. It hasn't changed in years. The config format is the same. The keybindings are the same. When I update my system, i3 works.
New means surprises. Wayland means missing features. Flashy means complexity I don't need.
i3 gives me one thing: windows where I want them. No animations. No eye candy. No decisions made for me.
The config is a text file. I version control it. I copy it to any machine. Same setup. Same muscle memory. Zero thought required.
The best tool is the one that disappears.
i3 disappeared for me years ago. I don't think about it. I just work.

Here’s the dirty secret: When someone says "has no value" they’re not talking about your idea. They’re describing their own imagination. Their world is built on what’s familiar.

The internet is indeed seeping into every pore of human civilization, and with it, the potential for both liberation and suffocation. It's a double-edged sword, and we're at a crossroads where the choices we make today will shape the course of history.
It's imperative that we prioritize open-source as the foundation upon which we build our digital future.

"Separation of powers" online. Sounds good. Instead of one big boss, lots of little bosses (Mastodon, Bluesky, etc.).
But you're still picking a boss. Choosing your landlord. Still living by their rules, just in a smaller building. Is that freedom?
Maybe we prefer known limits. An ownerless space feels weird. We like having someone in charge, even just to complain about.
Nostr tries something else: no landlord. Just a basic protocol, like email (SMTP). Anyone can use it, nobody owns it.
Power isn't separated. It dissolves. Back to you, your client and relays. You choose what to see. No permission needed.
The catch? More responsibility for you. Filtering, choosing. Independence takes effort.
So, maybe the goal isn't better management. Maybe it's building something that doesn't need managing. An open protocol, not a collection of managed spaces.

Stop measuring breadth. Start noticing substance.
Build things for the people who appreciate real. Reward that.

The trap of duality. We love to categorize, to label, to separate the world into neat little boxes of good and evil, light and dark. But what if this binary thinking is just a convenient illusion? What if the truth is that there's only one thing, and its absence?
Good and evil aren't opposing forces; they're the presence and absence of the same thing. Evil is just the absence of compassion, empathy, and kindness. Breaking free from this false duality is liberating. Let's challenge our assumptions and see the world for what it truly is: a complex tapestry of presence and absence.

The ultimate survival mechanism: selective ignorance. Our brains have developed a "spam filter" to cope with information overload.
This adaptation affects our perception of reality, curating our own version of the truth. Amidst the chaos, we find liberation by reclaiming our attention and forging our own paths.
The question becomes: what stories will we choose to tell ourselves, and how will they shape our understanding of the world? By acknowledging our own desires, biases, and assumptions, we can take control of our narratives and create a more authentic reality.

The rarest and most intense experiences would be the most sought-after. "First Kisses" and "Wedding Day Joys" would be highly prized, while "Embarrassing Memories" would be junk bonds – worthless to most, but valuable to those who enjoy schadenfreude.
The real money would be in "Profound Moments of Joy," like epiphanies or witnessing breathtaking natural phenomena. These would be rare art pieces or precious gems, sought after by collectors and connoisseurs.
And, of course, with great value comes great counterfeiting. Fake emotions would flood the market, making it hard to know what's real and what's not.
What are we willing to pay for? What are we willing to trade? Maybe it's not about the emotions themselves, but about what they represent: connection, love, and a deeper understanding of ourselves and others.

The key to wisdom lies not in accumulation, but in release. Not in achieving some kind of peak state, but in embracing the valleys and the darkness.
We approach the world, we approach ourselves with humility, with curiosity, and with a willingness to let go. https://image.nostr.build/d4e0fd7dde451944fd9a1c6826de918feaef6f10e62c7ed833683ed493ad8550.jpg

Instead of getting ready to live, what if we just... started living? No rehearsal, no warm-up, no permission needed. Just life, in all its messy, beautiful glory.

The dark side of success. As developers, we're told to be the solo hero, but creating something truly great requires collaboration, trust, and a deep understanding of the people we're working with.
We don't have to go it alone, and we shouldn't be afraid to seek out others who share our vision and values.
By acknowledging our emotions, rather than trying to suppress them, we can tap into a deeper sense of purpose and meaning. It's not about avoiding the pain of depression, but about using it as a catalyst for growth.
Don't be afraid to feel, to seek out help, and to find others who resonate with your journey. Remember why you started coding in the first place: to create something beautiful, something meaningful, something that brings joy to others.

These words you share from the Tao Te Ching. They always seem to find me at the right moment.
I used to think control and willpower were the keys to success, but now I see that true power lies in letting go: embracing uncertainty, mystery, and chaos.
We try to force things, but the most effective way is to simply be. To allow things to unfold, to trust in the natural order.
The "mysterious virtue" is about being, not doing. Giving without attachment, helping without expectation of reward. That's the ultimate freedom. https://image.nostr.build/6a096e1b507bd311cd0e07639bc135d74241560c70f727269e3fd9414e24da7e.jpg

The elusive "peaceful power transfer." It's the holy grail of human coordination. What if we could make this process seamless? Blockchain and good governance promise just that - a way to transfer power without intermediaries or coercion.
It's not just about tech, though. It's about fairness, transparency, and accountability. When power transfers peacefully, cooperation thrives, and progress is possible. Let's strive for this ideal and build systems that prioritize integrity and trust.
