that 10 year run of radiohead albums from 97-07 is so good. i don't care if this makes me a boomer, an unc, or other such things

the term "C/C++" has the same vibe as "judeo-christian values" to me

still can't believe an F-5 hit US air bases in 2026. that's like getting bombed by the red baron's biplane in vietnam

it's so funny that the strategic objective now is to open the strait of hormuz. you know, the thing that was open before iran got attacked

i have become really skeptical of the concept of summarization recently, i think it's only useful as a personal information gathering process but reading summaries is not a way to actually understand information

the argument seems to be that the AI as a first pass makes translation "easier" but having a first pass that goes through a lying machine doesn't really help, you have to consult the original text anyway??

like everyone knows that shit doesn't work. but nobody cares i guess

2026-02-21 21:19:47 GMT

seeing people basically give up on human translation in favor of AI is making me feel a jorge luis borges type of way

conspiracy theory: AI companies are fucking up the hardware market to ensure only they will be able to afford to run the models

2026-02-16 00:58:38 GMT

it's so insane that all computer hardware production is now being allocated toward a field of computing that has not made a single dollar of profit yet lol

a related point: just because something is useful doesn't mean it's 2 trillion dollar return on investment useful

i actually just now realized why game tech communities are so full of wasm/webgpu boosters, programming as an industry is absolutely saturated with web devs and they don't want to have to learn how to do anything outside of a browser so if these technologies come to fruition they won't have to

when your economic policy definitely works and is a radical new maverick approach to governance (right wing argentine president macri borrowed 50 billion from the IMF in 2017)

people keep telling me to invest for retirement, yeah man the height of the dot com bubble 2 except we're doing tariffs now too is exactly when i want to put money in the stock market

2025-09-13 18:27:10 GMT

the AI bubble, much like the crypto bubble, is a flywheel scheme. there's no exit ramp or profit to be found anywhere just pure speculation

you can tell we live in a democracy because the rent being too high has been a very popular grassroots political opinion for like 20 years but every establishment politician has to be like "uhhh it's actually very good when 40% of all working class and business income is inhaled by parasites who contribute literally nothing to society"

not trying to be that guy but if you mostly interact with your computer via a web browser a normal style distro like fedora will not be a significant departure for you. the operating system features have a UI. its not like you are in the movie hackers

accessibility just means instant gratification now. that's it

2025-03-29 00:03:44 GMT

you know that the concept of accessibility has really been beaten into the ground when people talk about being able to make a computer generate an image from a text prompt or difficulty sliders on a video game as "accessibility"

american john lennon: imagine there's a burger

2025-03-06 18:57:43 GMT

i think the reason the tariff stuff has been so chaotic is that it's impossible to resolve the contradiction between america-first nativist protectionism and the fact that the world free trade economy has been designed by the US business class to benefit the US business class

watching my brother go through medical residency has been eye opening. he has 10 years of medical training, an advanced degree, works 70-80 hours a week, and had to call me two weeks ago begging for a cash advance so he could afford rent

It’s not really enjoyable to fuck your wife... it takes a lot of time, it takes a lot of practice, you have to get really good at cunnilingus... I think the majority of people don’t enjoy the majority of time they spend fucking their wife

2024-11-07 16:48:57 GMT

i saw a tiktok yesterday that just said "stop comparing yourself to people who have actual support systems" and i had to go lie down for a minute
