@nprofile…h6s6 @nprofile…sv00 I think just anything like cashapp, venmo, etc. something that just allows for general donations without any attachment to content.

@nprofile…h6s6 @nprofile…sv00 Seems like general donations without pay-gating specific content might still be possible. So instead of making something and pay gating it you could essentially front-load it like a gofundme where you have a donation meter and have goals on it with a time limit like a month or something. Maybe even allow different donation meters going at once so people can contribute to different ones in donation comments.
Just an idea.

We need to move to something decentralized anyway, constantly surviving on the good will of one person is never a good situation to be in.

@nprofile…cjwl People seeming to break away from social norms to show they are somehow stronger than them. I think the motivation is to demonstrate strength and try to be an iconoclast of sorts.
Reasons it looks dumb:
No one shares the point of view, being dumb isn't bold or brave.
It isn't really that radical and seems empty and self-aggrandizing.

@nprofile…yc6a That's a bit of chicken-and-the-egg thinking causing paralysis, a bootstrapping problem. The dark net only has that reputation because the clearnet has been so lax, it's rapidly becoming not that way anymore. Dark nets (TOR, i2p, Tribbler, etc.) will be normalized through a combination of obsessive copyright and pornography laws, it's been marching that way for over a decade.

2025-06-27 21:22:09 GMT

- reply

@nprofile…yc6a Yeah times are going to get tougher. I continue to insist moving to i2p and other darknet based solutions will be the future. Every stop-gap will get targeted eventually.

@nprofile…yc6a @nprofile…0c83 There's decentralized markets like r eoswap for monero. Some vendors on there accept cash in the mail but I haven't tried it. The problem there is most of them still use paypal, cashapp, venmo, etc. to do transactions so the problem persists. If you could pay for things directly with crypto then the system could be bypassed.

2025-06-26 20:37:01 GMT

- reply

@nprofile…yc6a Torrents over i2p has been my thinking for long term archiving. Keeps your anonymity for people worried about that but prevents some website scrubbing the content. All you have to do is post the infohash and i2psnark should be able to find it over DHT.
You can do IRC over i2p too so making IRC chat rooms instead of discord rooms would work for posting updates. I don't know of an IRC client that does inline images though which kinda sucks compared to discord.

@nprofile…4g9j consider a torrent. You can host torrents on i2psnark so you don't dox your ip address. It's little tricky to setup i2p but it's cool once you do. I'd be willing to seed it.
You could also get a seedbox to host the torrent but I've never done that before.

@npub1qus…rtmv I've lost some encrypted drives before. Fortunately nothing important. You could try accessing it on a different computer.
Found this but I can't confirm.
https://sourceforge.net/p/veracrypt/discussion/technical/thread/89a9c7ef/
Try logging-in as the Administrator, open the VeraCrypt GUI, right click on the mounted volume to select repair filesystem option.
If that fails, the only other idea I can offer is with the volume mounted in VeraCrypt, try using data recovery tools like R-Studio, TestDisk or EaseUS Data Recovery.
