RE: https://mamot.fr/@pluralistic/117354673212362196
As I drove to the airport this morning it dawned on me that we have the technology so that your network connected car, when low on fuel, can simply inform the fuel pumps near you that you are low so they can greatly increase the price.
The more you look for an ungouged price the more desperate your plight, and the higher the price becomes.
Nah, that would never happen

a lot of technical people work for companies that are saying “use AI or lose your job”. I used to work for one of them. The message from management is so pervasive that people can seem to divorce themselves from it.

so this was a good thing, right?
I often spend time finding the right spot, which usually involves wanting to hit a stud, so drilling through butter means I screwed up and only hit drywall.

In today’s post @npub1fdr…lvhs writes
“So it's not surprising that we don't ask why these AI god-botherers need our stupid money while they're immanentizing the eschaton”
RAW would be proud.

Calling English Grammar nerds.
In a post by @npub1fdr…lvhs he used the term “tabling legislation” to mean pass legislation. Where I am, to table something (with respect to legislation) means to set it aside. Do I have it wrong?

Assuming strawberries are roughly 90% water, a one pound freeze-dried bag would equate to roughly ten pounds of fresh, if I'm doing the math right

hey. Does your printer do prints with flexible material? Like you might find in a watch band?
I have a Zigbee button that my father can press if he needs me. I wanted to mount it in a wristband so he can have one on at all times.
Just don’t know if they make a flexible rubber like material for these printers

I saw the original version of this act by Lara Jacobs at the Amaluna Cirque du Soleil show. Want to give credit where credit is due. It was created by her father.
Here is a really good video of her performance from 2013

In an example of “enshittification” in the mode of @npub1fdr…lvhs check out this tray in my hotel in Vegas.
No one really wants to pay the prices here (those candy snacks are $9.99) but if you remove any item from the tray you get charged.
This is the only place that can serve as a desk but if you unplug and move the tray you get charged.
They’ve moved from providing a service to hoping you accidentally incur fees.

I haven’t been to Oz in over a decade but the last time I was there I visited a friend at their place near Curl Curl.
It was a nice house but nothing extravagant but still cost well north of AU$1MM. I assume it is much worse now.
Do a lot of houses still sell at auction? That was a Victorian thing back in the day.
