Maybe you're thinking of something else? LibreOffice has been able to open and save in Microsoft's formats for many years. Millions of people use it to share documents with Microsoft Office users. So saying it's "not compatible" isn't true at all.

@npub1r7z…slxv There's an enhancement request but nobody has stepped up to work on it (yet). LibreOffice is a volunteer-driven, community open source project with very limited resources. It can only happen if people get involved and help the volunteers to implement it, or fund developers 😊
I know that's not the most satisfying answer, but the LibreOffice community gets huge numbers of requests to implement things, and very few people actually volunteer to help out or fund developers...
