Another few points to keep in mind:
\- Having a nostr account connected in my BF profile does NOT mean I can use this account to comment.
To be able to comment means that I'm able to sign my comments using either an extension or some tool.
\- Syncing profile data between BF profile & nostr profile
These are 2 different profiles, think like your google profile, & any other profile you signed-in to using your google profile.
Updating one profile data doesn't mean (most of the times) that the other profile is getting updated automatically.
Cause there will be several issues if this would to happen.
Also, updating nostr profile data also requires signing the update event by the private key.
I personally think that we don't necissarly need to allow the user to update his nostr profile from bolt.fun
(& I think we should definitely not try to automatically update it)
2 reasons:
\- It can get out of sync easily. Whenever the user changes any of his info from any other nostr client, the profiles data will be out of sync with our BF profile.
\- We are almost not using the user's profile data anywhere.
We try to see if this nostr profile is connected to one of our BF profiles, & if so, we always display our BF profile data.
So we are not making any use of his nostr profile data if it's created on some other client.
\- Should we allow users to comment using a nostr profile that is NOT connected to a BF account??
Currently, we do.

The new UI is looking nice & clear enough imo.
But this will be a big restructure for both the commenting feature & some parts of the user's profile, so there are several things on my mind that I would like to throw.
I think first of all, we should precisely determine what are the problems or difficulties we have with our current system.
Are they actually problems that should be "solved"?? (Cause with nostr, some features are supposed to be in a specific way).
& How are the other nostr clients handling them.
I know that for people who don't know what nostr is, it's not that clear to use.
But at the same time, (& this is my personal opinion), we shouldn't confuse people who are already using other nostr clients & are expecting some things to work in a specific way.
I think the term bolt.fun identity will not be very clear on what it is.
I am not sure at the moment what it is exactly...
I think the first assumption will be that it means your bolt.fun profile.
I know that the modals content for when the user chooses the boltfun identity option are still not finished, so this might not be the case, but I would think that any user on bolt.fun has a bf identity, & it's his profile.
I think that's it.
I know my feedback isn't structured very well propably. So let know if you have a different opinion on any of the points.

A lot of people would just discard his project as soon as the hackathon's end, when the MAIN goal of the hackathon is to give people the first push (& a possible monetary prize), hoping to encourage them to continue working on their project's ideas/prototypes to see it realized as full valuable projects.

I'm very looking forward to this one!!
In the last hackathon, I tried adding 'nostr-connect' to my workshop project, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to get it to work reliably, so I had to omit it. (Maybe my usage of it was wrong 😅)
But if it works nicely now, this could help a lot with some nostr features on websites that are currently not very UX friendly.
Please keep us in the loop of this project's progress.

Hey there!
The stack that you should go with of course depends on your projects' requirements.
But if you don't have any previous experience with web technologies, then just proceed at first with the bare basics that is enough to get you an MVP.
So for example, on the front-end, just learn the basics of HTML, CSS, & JavaScript. (Probably not a framework cause that will take some time). & you could also use some ready templates or use one of the apps that allows you to build a web page using no-code or low-code. (But since you need some nostr features, I think you will have to go with an option that allows you to write your own javascript)
For the back-end, nodejs in my opinion can be learned quickly & used to build small apis in no time.
If you have a good python knowledge though, you could also look into backend frameworks for Python like Django & Flask. Flask in particular is very easy to get started with.
And yeah, that is my opinion.

I'm going to start developing the front-end components for this feature next week.
So I had a couple of thoughts on the UI of the badges components that I wanted to share with you.
\- We should consider that the badges description will in most cases be longer than 1 sentence. Since we will be using the badges to educate people about some parts of the platform that they might not have used.
So I think the description for some badges will be multiple lines.
\- The images are nice & neat. But I feel that they are a bit too "abstract" or "generic".
I saw the images at the top of the figma file (the ones that seem to be generated using mid-journey) & I think they look more "interesting".
\- The progress bar should be bigger so that in the case of badges that require a lot of progress steps (e.g. write 50 stories), the progress is kind of visible.
\- I think it would also be a good idea to have a progress count close to the progress bar somewhere (saying something like: "14/30")
For most of the points above, I think making the layout of the badges component list-like instead of grid-like would fix them.
So the items list would look something like:

As far as I know, this kind of advanced filtering isn't currently possible through the relays...
Mainly because they will be kind of expensive for relays to run on their data. AND, because a single relay can't determine this since it doesn't necessarily have the full picture.
So maybe a relay is storing the event & 2 comments on it.
But maybe another relay is storing 4 other comments on this event.
So the client can't query multiple relays and ask them: "Give me the events that has the most comments but take into account the data stored on other relays too"
So the current solutions I can think of:
You either do this on the client side.
Or if you can, you build a middle layer between your client & other relays that can cache this events & do this advanced filtering.
A question btw, how are you filtering for a certain keyword inside the title & that it has media content??
Are you doing that using NIP-50? Or in another way?

What structure should I use for such a function??

Yeah.
I was planning on doing that actually, but instead of a loom video, I was going to write a long story here to talk about that.
Because when I was discussing this with some guys on the nostr telegram group, all of them said they wish to see an example of some project implementing this (because there was none), so when I'm done with this feature I could publish a story about that.
(Now I'm also thinking, that maybe I could record a "Part 3: Adding tests to a nostr client" tutorial video 😂😂, I'm sure that would be really helpful for some people (and for me to better understand))

Yes, that's an option.
But in general, if it's possible to mock an external module locally, then that's better.
Actually, just today, I had a discussion with a few people on the nostr Telegram group regarding this thing, so I'll put here the reasons why I think an in-memory simple mock relay is better than hosting a real "testing" relay:
1- Simpler to run
When you are introducing an external component to your testing flow like a Relay,
you (or anyone else) won't be able to run your tests unless they also have a running relay on their machine.
2- Speed
A mock relay would just be a very simple class that holds a list of events objects in memory & returns them.
An actual relay will likely have many more functionalites that you likely don't need in a "web-app testing " environment.
3- Running it on a CI/CD environment
Like if you want to always run all your tests on your CI/CD after each push.
If your tests require an actual running relay, you need to host one yourself online
Even if it's considered a "testing" relay, it is still a new live component that needs updates, maintainence, and has costs.
So if we can get around that by using a mock relay, I'd prefer that.
(But that's in the case that it works eventually 🥲🥲)

Or, in some other scenario, we show the user that you have received X new messages from this person, but if he is on the device that is NOT his nostr-key holder device, we say something like:
"To view these messages, you have to open this from your device that has this key"
Now if the user has added his alby key to some other mobile client, then he can simply open that mobile client and view his DMs & send replies from there.

Improving the accessibility of our apps for people with disabilities is really important but unfortunately doesn't usually get the attention it deserves.

Although the secret key is being randomly generated on each page load, when the user connects to a signer, I store the secret key that was used in localstorage.
And on subsequent page loads, I construct the connection object based on the stored value:

Allowing "special" or private content to be only accessible to people how have some specific badges (maybe not even issued by the private content owner) is a very powerful and valuable feature!

I made some updates to the "Edit Profile" pages.
A confirmation prompt will now be shown if the user tries to navigate away or reload when he has some unsaved changes.
Additionally, fields that have unsaved changes will now have a different background color to make it easier for the user to review what changes he made before saving.

How are you
So just to confirm I understand the issue:
You are referring to the case where:
1- You go to some profile settings page (e.g. Basic Info page)
2- You fill some data in some fields
3- You navigate to some other profile page (e.g. Roles & Skills page) WITHOUT clicking "Save Changes"
4- You make some changes there
5- You go back to the Basic Info page
6- The info you entered without saving isn't there anymore
Is that right??
If so, then yes, this behaviour could be improved.
There are 2 options that we could go with, each with its pros & cons.
1- Treat all the profile pages as a single form but with multiple tabs. So the "Save changes" button would save the changes on all the different tabs, not just the current one.
Pros:
\- This way, the user won't lose any info he enters at all
Cons:
\- The user might forget that he made changes to some page that he is not on now.
\- Reviewing changes before saving will require the user to go back to each page & scan what changes he made.
\- If there is an error with some field on some page after submitting, it won't be easy to display this error if the user is on a different page.
\- The user might expect that if he move away from a page without saving, his form fields should go back to the original values.
I personally think this approach is only suitable for the cases where the forms are small & only consists of a couple of fields each.
But in our case, the forms are bigger, and more pages will likely be added in the future.
2- If the user made changes on one page, and he tries to navigate to a different page before saving, we show a prompt saying something like:
"You have some unsaved changes on this page, are you sure you want to move away without saving them??"
Pros:
\- Keeps the data, errors, & loading of each page contained within itself
\- Easier for the user to review his changes before saving
\- If the user wants to remove his changes, he can navigate away from the page & confirm to "Not save"
Cons:
\- The browser prompts dialog is not very pretty honestly (but maybe there is a way to customize it later)
I think this approach is more suited for the profile settings case, (it can be seen in websites like Gmail profile settings for example).
And we actually used to use this approach previously, but we disabled it at one point due to some changes in the page, and didn't add it back.
So maybe we should add it back now.
What are your thoughts??
