This is an argument for nationalism and protectionism. Fuck the globalists. We're not all one human race with one global market. We are many different competing civilizations with different cultures and different forms of government. Slapping massive tariffs on imported goods to inventivise rebuilding America's hollowed out manufacturing center that had once enabled a thriving middle class is economically and morally justified.
The economically illiterate Democrats are both against the tariffs and for raising the minimum wage, which will result in driving even more labor demand overseas to third world shit holes and trap Americans in a low productivity service economy.
If you create good jobs, wages go up. It doesn't take any decree from the government. Thriving industry and a productive society lifts all boats.

When you try to recommend a nostr client to a new Nostrich.
Them: What about [redacted], any good?
Me: Yeah, if you don't plan to zap people. It's great.
Them: Oh? What about [readacted]?
Me: I like the UI but it will overwrite your relays, daily.
Them: Alright, but you've been using [readacted]
Me: Yeah but that client doesn't hide your mutes.
Them: Shit. But [readced] seems good. Lot's of users
Me: Yeah but those mf's have been phantom muting people for three years now.
Them: So which client do you recommend.
Me: You're probably best off vibing your own.
This looks like AI. I always knew you were a bot.

ditto works great... for people who don't zap a lot. I've been getting the same error literally non-stop since I've started using the web app a few weeks ago.
Ditto, what do you mean with "failed. a payment request already exists? It doesn't and I would 90% of my zap attempts return this error.

I wanted to try a small experiment on XMRBazaar by putting two of my paintings up for sale.
After almost a month, the results are quite modest: one painting received 14 views, the other 21, and there was only one comment — from someone who already knew me through Nostr.
Those numbers are significantly lower than what I normally see when I share my paintings on barattolo.store. Even the posts linking to paintings on my own website tend to get more views when I share them on Nostr.
I don't necessarily take this as a judgment on the paintings themselves. Rather, it seems like an interesting indication of how different platforms can have very different abilities to put your work in front of people who are actually interested in it.
In the end, that's what experiments are for: you try something, see what happens, and then decide where it's worth investing your time and energy.
For now, I'd say XMRBazaar didn't work as I had hoped.
But at least now I know. 🙂

If labor is being undervalued then that points to a supply demand imbalance in the market. You can't correct that by setting an artificial price floor. In the county where I live the effective minimum wage, (the lowest pay rate entry level jobs are advertised for to get bodies), is almost double the state minimum wage. It's not because a government said so and it's not because employers here are extra generous, it's because that's where the forces of supply and demand have set the price of low skill labor.
Greetings from our campground buff.

I remember I was almost punched in the face for attempting to meditate on a similar question. Now I hear Mark Passio's voice emotionally criticizing relativistic morality in the background.

@npub1cgd…kfex you're kinda simplifying life for me by creating these polls, thanks; I was planning to record a video that touches something like this, but tbh I'm not into recording that much, and at the same time I don't feel like I'm capable enough to express certain ideas in the least distorted ways when I'm limited only to text posts.
TLDR: Those who are capable of understanding the immorality of their actions, wherever they are in the social hierarchies, are probably acting the most immoral ways. Others are, poetically speaking, hypnotized, manipulated NPCes/children/slaves; actual complex enough morality is kind of inapplicable to them, irrelevant. Projecting the capability to understand morality on them may even make things worse.
Longer version: I still think that context matters a lot here; if you mean US-like locations as the context (where you still can relatively openly communicate and collaborate, openly discuss and decide why something is reasonably immoral), the answer is basically that relativistic morality indeed became damaging to Western society; so the immoral order executor is in a morally worse position.
But if you mean some of the most corrupt countries today—the situation is more confusing: those who are already trapped themselves in the premature choice to serve a corrupt government long before they could have a chance to make any independent conscious choices will endanger their family if they choose to suddenly revolt individually towards them. Collectively they technically still can revolt against immoral orders but not individually; I think that would be both ineffective and less moral because the dramatic outcomes might even make government propaganda stronger in this case.
Another way to look at it: we have autonomous vehicles that "decide" whom to kill in case if they can't stop; they do their best to "decide" according the way they were programmed. But the ultimate decision is on those who programmed them; so if they make an immoral "choice", whom to blame? An engineer, a company, a machine itself? Do these machines somehow remind, poetically speaking, the hypnotized NPC guys trapped in their premature police/military career choices in their corrupt governments? Kinda, except these are machines with no real subjectivity, and they don't have families as well. The scary thing is the machines could be modified to be used as aggressive military machines, so those who originally designed them wouldn't have any idea they would be used that way.
I'd be glad to hear anything that can change my mind.
Probably the funniest article I've read in a while, full of boomer ironies.

British Transport Police scanned the faces of 537,697 people at London railway stations over six months. The trial produced one alert, and that alert was false. It cost £320,786 ($424,000)
The police responded by extending the trial by four months and expanding the area. Since then, 926,912 people have been scanned in total. The system has made only three correct identifications, and every one of them ended with no action. The arrest column still reads zero.
The watchlist, meanwhile, has grown from 381 names to 862. Transport for London welcomed the expansion and said it would tackle violence against women and girls.
More than half of the police forces in England and Wales now scan faces in public, and every failed trial is treated as a reason to scan more of them.
