I was stamping all my fiat bills 💵 with "buy bitcoin" for a while... someone in my area actually saw one in circulation. Then a cashier told me they eventually just turn them into the bank... I think it's not worth the effort 🤷🏼♀️

So I went down the electroculture rabbit hole a few years ago & wanted to test it.
I made this while listening to Ben's note about 2 hours ago. 🤣 Videos are much nicer to watch in Amethyst now - much smoother.
I'd bought the wire a couple of years ago for this but did nothing with it until now. It was annealed wire & my ADHD mind spiralled into inaction.

The bamboo had a vine growing up it & I mirrored the spiral based on that (from bottom-up anticlockwise. That direction was later confirmed in another vid (I'm south of the equator). I found a rough chunk of Amethyst that bought from a boomer at the markets & wrapped it at the end.
I guess I'll notice if it makes a difference 🤷 The inability to find certainty in these experiments was another reason I spiraled into inaction.
I'm not confident that any of these will survive, they got beat up by the rain. It should be interesting.

It diverged because blockchain primitives were largely dismissed as unnecessary infrastructure.
Mainstream software optimised around trusted intermediaries:
Databases.
Cloud platforms.
Identity providers.
Payment processors.
Centralised operators.
Blockchain systems introduced a different primitive set:
Publicly verifiable state.
Cryptographic ownership.
Permissionless validation.
Consensus under adversarial conditions.
Deterministic settlement.
Tamper-evident history.
These primitives impose costs — latency, throughput limits, complexity and resource consumption.
But they also remove classes of assumptions that conventional systems simply leave to trusted infrastructure.
That is the real divergence.
One architecture says:
“The system is correct because the trusted components are correct.”
The other says:
“The system is correct because independent parties can verify the rules and the resulting state.”
One builds on sand — trust, credentials, mutable infrastructure and institutional guarantees.
The other builds on rock — cryptographic verification and consensus.
The mistake was treating the second foundation as a speculative replacement for the first.
It isn't.
They solve different problems.
And as software moves into environments where trust is itself an attack surface, those supposedly unnecessary primitives become increasingly difficult to ignore.
The question isn't who you trust.
The question is what you can verify.
