I am now in Charlotte! Not to be confused with Charlottesville.
So far it is nice. I got pushed in a wheel chair to the bathroom and to get snacks then to my gate.
My flight for Dallas also delayed. So it's looking like it won't depart for another 2 hours at least. If I'm lucky I might get to my hotel at 3 am.
This flight was originally supposed to be a morning flight that got me in by 5 pm 😭
My new friend was telling me how it used to be the airlines gave you a little toiletries bag and got you a hotel if they messed things up. Now you just don't get any sleep.

I don't agree, Bitcoin has always been the chain on which its soul resides : the anarchist never gonna give up sewer rats truly decentralized nodes that will die for perfect money. Today those are the rdts nodes. The exchanges don't show its chain yet, but its only a matter of time before they do and its market cap will reveal its true value like every other fork.

And there's the issue that if you allow even some arbitrary data, where you draw the line is also arbitrary. I think that's the crux of the issue for a lot of people.
I fully agree with you though. I'd rather it be as basic as possible. All the shit they want to store on chain can be done on something like Nostr now anyway.
100% agree and it's already an issue for me. It gets to a point where you either spend more on hardware or prune. Both have consequences.

I see. Misunderstood what you meant. I tend to take a minimalist approach. Do the bare minimum required for a secure and robust monetary network.
But there's also the Genesis block. It had arbitrary data. So this issue predates all of us. It's hard to argue that our vision was the original. But I'm also not one who deifies Satoshi or even the original network. I think it's rational to improve it and learn from design choices after the fact.
I don't agree that data is never useful in transactions. I think that's obviously untrue. I've made payments that contained unique order details, for example. Could we solve that some other way? Maybe, but that's beyond me.
It's unclear to me that Bitcoin is doomed for any of these things. And if it were truly, it isnt like we couldn't make changes. This is why I avoid catastrophizing. We all think our vision is the best.
Democracy is shit and the majority is usually wrong.

Anybody can fork Bitcoin. That's how this has always worked. There are hundreds of forks of Bitcoin and forks of forks of Bitcoin and so on.
Dogecoin is a fork that was literally started as a joke. The guy thought it would be hilarious to make it ridiculously inflationary. It has an $11 billion market cap now.
The rhetoric from the bip110 stalwarts has gotten outrageous. They think by forking and changing the PoW they are 'firing' the miners. I agree with them that Bitcoin is corrupt, it has been for a long time. Nothing they are doing however is going to erase it.
I wish them luck with their fork. I might even use it depending on how it turns out. I can't be counted among them anymore at this point. We took a stand and made our point. Bitcoin is going to keep going in the direction it's been headed. I don't think it's good, but it is what it is.

If you can find it! Its in the bush somewhere 🤷 got taken there during a field trip at college and tried to find it again years later (with geo maps) and failed but if you like geology, worth looking up photos from that part of the world. Can also see cliffs of salts from the missinian salinity crisis. If you ever visit that, be careful, you won't realise the reflection strength and if sunny, you'll burn fast. But if you're into geology ever been to namibia? Only country I know of where you'll find geology guide books in shops everywhere. Incredible beauty
