We have confirmed a critical vulnerability in Alby Hub v1.7.0–v1.18.5 (releases prior to August 2025) when the Hub is publicly accessible from the internet. The vulnerability could allow an attacker who could reach the Hub's management API to gain unauthorized access and send funds.
Alby Hub v1.19.0 (released Aug 29, 2025) or newer are unaffected.

-Controversial post-
All the various Bitcoin services affected by critical vulnerabilities are apologizing, but none are offering refunds.
Apologies are worthless, which is why it's so easy to make them.

From my knowledge there is not much to cache? The range-proof would be TX specific anywayz
The only caee it might benefit is mempool / block validation; which is so dumb for a network that could proceed all txs on a toaster

But you know that Mistral offers open weights models to run local?
Ironic as a developer of an app that requires just that.

Not unless the owner exposed it, or the user is using their cloud service which has to be exposed in order for them to access it, but in the latter case Alby keeps it updated to the latest version.
I run mine on my Start9 and there is no public access at all. Just within my network. That's the whole point of NWC.
Official statement here, just keep your hub updated.

Is it paranoid for me to move most of my "spending" sats from my Phoenix Lightning wallet to my Electrum on-chain wallet? It's not just that I worry that Lightning is gonna get hacked next, but that I worry that the swaps will get taken offline in a panic, and I'll end up stuck in Lightning.
This doesn't really seem rational, as I'd probably have to move them back onto Lightning to spend them, but oh well.
In other news, added a silent payment wallet to my payment targets, which doesn't help much because hardly any Bitcoin wallets support silent payments. 🤣
I'm tired, boss.
I do not really use my dead bird account…
Don’t expect me to respond or post there other really…

We must stop being less toxic!
I took a proper look last night- one thing I noticed, while browsing the titles, is that when I clicked a title it behaved like a link but didnt load the book, but when I clicked the image it loaded it. Bloody awesome awesome work, tbh. I'm looking forward to browsing it more.
I actually searched my home town, by name, and there were loads of publications about it, but I did wonder, is there an easy way to filter so I can either find books related to the subject or the imported wiki page?
Looks like only versions more than a year old (August 2025) are affected, and even then only if they exposed the UI to the public internet, which is generally a bad idea anyway.

We need to shift away from centralised comms towards mesh networks too.
Seems like only older versions are affected, updating Alby Hub fixes it.
