I got 7 hours of shitty sleep 😘. And I didn't feel like making breakfast or coffee, so I'm having bubble water and positive thoughts.
It was just Cheese and me hiding out last night chatting while he was driving (I was in no state for public consumption 😂).
It depends on the mood, I think the used bidet room is the latest in a line of strange rooms, lol. Like nostr, cornychat has been pretty slow lately ☹️. We pop in here and there but not like we used to.

Part of the terrible with peer review is that challenging a paper is a very adversarial process. A new trouble that has emerged in more recent years is that all these research teams are using AI to crank out papers so fast that it's overwhelming peer review.
The one structural problem this article doesn't touch on very well is the funding itself. It mentions that funding is a huge incentive to publish more results but doesn't say why. Funding for the sciences is very limited, so it's often a zero sum game. All these researchers are in competition with one another for securing next year's funding so they're inventivised to constantly prove that they are producing more results than the other teams.
The journals aggravate all this because they would rather publish sensational results than publish null results, although the latter is just as important for the advancement of science.
So it's a nexus of incentives that encourage very poor science.
