Paydown Paul and Investing Ian each buy a $500,000 house with 20% down and a $400,000, 30-year mortgage at 7%. Each has another $1,000 a month. Paul sends it to principal. Ian invests in the S&P 500.
Paul pays off his mortgage in 14 years and 7 months, then invests about $3,661 a month. Ian keeps investing $1,000. Under a steady 10% annual return assumption, Ian ends year 30 with $2.063 million invested versus Paul's $1.546 million—a $516,000 advantage.
The return assumption drives the result. With the same mortgage, Paul finishes ahead at a 5% investment return, while Ian wins at 8%. The break-even is about 7.23% annually before taxes and fees.
Liquidity matters before year 30. After 10 years, Ian has about $200,000 invested. Paul has more home equity; extra principal hasn't lowered his required monthly payment. If income disappears, Ian can sell investments, though markets can fall at the worst time. Paul needs other savings, new income, or financing to reach his equity.
Lower obligations and a larger accessible portfolio each provide resilience. Compare the return hurdle, payment affordability, and downside before choosing.

It just looks for the lnbc… string and streamlines the process of handing it off to the wallet for you, but only with your explicit approval.

The spec allows the same group to have multiple IDs in parallel, and to rotate them on random schedule too, but thats not yet implemented.

Had a dream about going to a sleepover at a rented school with some Christian group, nothing too religious at first, like any good cult, just some DIY crafting while halfheartedly listening to a podcast. A substantial part of the dream, or at least the part I remember, was about picking the right podcast app... What’s stopping me from defaulting to kind1111 for all replies right now is knowing how long it will take for Damus and Primal (among others) to come around. I don’t want my users’ replies to not be seen by more than half of the clients.

Maybe what we need is a reply kind metrics dashboard so we can see when the flippening happens, and then I’ll switch the default.
I still think there needs to be some nuance. I would rather allow replies to kind1111 as kind1111 but still support kind1 on kind1 by default.

Well your replies in this thread are all kind1, which is the most compatible across clients. I’m not exactly sure how Amethyst determines which format to use. I just made sure Sidecar can read either one.
