The really impressive thing is that they chose to spare you the pain of a second, posterior surgery to further reinforce the cervical reconstruction. Most spinal surgeons would have done that (it's called a "360" or a "front-back"). This is why they put you in a HALO vest. Not fun, but at least you don't have even more titanium in your spine.
