You both bring up good points. I'm not sure I'd call "racist" namecalling, and maybe not even "asshole" . Calling out someone for racism is more a statement of fact, in my mind.
Calling out negative, harmful behavior is different than using the trendy name calling that I see as always harmful. "Eloon" or "Genocide Joe" or the like are names that are intended to insult supporters of the person as much as the person themselves and always detract from the conversation, imo.
