A little blasphemy is always appreciated! However, I disagree. Lightning is one of the coolest things in Bitcoin. The fact that we can send around money in seconds non-custodially is freaking amazing.
Obvious problems remain with no ideas how to fix them (because it's all based on time-locks and those can take a long time to fail).
IMO Lightning has a very important role in the financial stack of the future. It's the ideal instrument to top up your ecash balance for example, having to use on-chain would suck.
