Well I do live in murica, so it's not like I can drive using km/hr (though I did learn the equivalents for some times where I drove in Canada), but when I'd work on things out in the garage, I used cm and mm more often than inches because I could design stuff using more whole integers. It's no more difficult to cut a piece of wood to 8cm than to 3 inches.
I also have a 3D printer and the "maker" community heavily favors metric so I use it, despite it not making a difference to a CNC machine or CAD system.
