Nicely done. I do a similar trick to look for `/.dockerenv` so that I can tell if Just is running inside or outside of a container (doesn't work with k8s) so that my recipes do what I want without thinking about it.

While I love 1Password, I feel really uncomfortable merging my 2FA into it, and yet I have started to do that because of Authy + Google Auth fails along with how hard it is to keep a backup set of yubikeys around. So 1Password is my best solution today, but I feel uncomfortable about that being my best path forward.

Yes, to clarify giving a PDF to Claude 3.5 ask it to turn it into a website using whatever tech you prefer. For whatever reason, these LLMs are optimized for PDFs in strange ways.
I haven't fully dived into Projects yet, but I can imagine it working similarly.

The LangChain docs and examples were all over the place, and that's not a compliment.
Their API methods signatures were inconsistent, examples either didn't work or were outdated/broken, and the site was not even remotely beginner-friendly. I hope this changes with time.

I'm not sure if I will get around to writing it up, but last night, I built on this article, tried out LangChain, and wrote my first few tools to expose.
In my first demo, I had Ollama + Llama3.1 calling multiple python functions which was amazing.
By the end of the night, it would only make one custom tool call and I have zero clue how to fix it or know if it's even fixable.

Nicely done. I struggle to know when using htmx is worth the effort or when I should be using it. The filter + search pattern was an obvious one but I have yet to really dive into form usage for example.

They have a pretty good LLM/assistant support. I plugged in Ollama, that's running on my work machine via Tailscale, and I was getting results when I tried it out at home much faster than I would have believed possible.
I use git-tower, so my level of git in my IDE support is mostly marking modified lines and not getting in my way. 😉

If you use Zed there was some hub bub about it installing Node in the background for some of it's core functionality.

I was supposed to take the kids to swimming lessons, but it's 66F, super dark, and our rain/thunderstorm warning was flashing.

I totally hated that idea.
That said, I like the concept of replacing CEOs with AI. That can save Fortune 500 companies 10s to 100s of millions a year, which is more than enough to pay for AI credits.
I'm also curious to see what a company might look like where an AI helps guide decisions based on employees writing the policies and handbook.

It was a great turnout and outcome.
There is so much noise on the forum and mailing lists, which continues to be an echo chamber. It's a shame so many people (small numbers are still too many) are still anti and openly hostile towards having an enforceable code of conduct.
💪 That ship sailed years ago and the Python community is better for it.

I have never see one. If you have db_table explicitly declared, a proxy model may or may not be helpful for transitioning.

Good to know. I'm stuck on their registration between pre-paying via Paypal (never going to happen) and uploading my passport (I'm also not thrilled about).

I liked the homage to the characters and actors. I get that about CGI, and if they had brought back West for minutes of the movie or as a central plot, then I'd be more aligned with you.
Same with Cage. I'm not a huge Cage fan, but he should have had his own Burton movie. I read an interview where his only complaint was not giving him more of a central role. Which, sure.

It's hard to use. It took about ~10 minutes for one of the recommended shows to resurface. It's frustrating to use. I'm not using Docker. I have apps in Docker that might connect to it, but I run Ollama natively.
Docker does support GPUs on the mac, which is where 99% of the performance comes form.

Ollama is pretty neat.
One thing I didn't mention in my notes is that I run it from my work Mac Studio and my home office's Mac Mini Pro.
I can connect to both over Tailscale on my 2019 MacBook Pro which makes trying a new new HUGE model from on old hardware possible.

I hear you, but I honestly don't see the issues people like to complain about. I thought the newer Rust backend is so much faster (even on my six year old laptop) than some of the 3 or 4 version-era apps.
So again, I hear you, I am just surprised people complain about it when it feels better than where it came from.
I use mine dozens of times a day and iOS pains are my only gripe but that's an Apple issue not an app problem.

Since a half dozen friends pinged me about my thoughts on "Apple killing 1Password," I think this is completely overstated.
It's easier for me to use 1Password to manage my Apple passwords than the other way around.
Until that changes, plus the 50+ other features 1Password offers for scripting, cli, and general secure document handling, I am not even remotely worried.

I assume I could do all of this with the API, but I haven't tried yet.
I have played with having Claude3 help write tests and refactor Pyton files or classes to really good results.
I had it refactor some django-fsm states on a project and make suggestions and I generally agreed with where it was going.
It feels like there is a tool for that space that's missing, but I love the idea of pointing it to a repo or tar file of code and letting hit help.

I will drag several PDFs into Claude3 and use that to start a conversation which is worth the $20 for me. Sometimes I create the PDF from a website, email, or project docs. I tried having it summarize a recent Django major release to break down the features and then outline some blog posts and it really did too good of a job.

Neat. I met a few people who work there at PyCon US.
It's hard to compare the UI nuance, but ChatGPT's general UI is slightly more approachable. All of this is "feels" though too. Like, the small one-off questions ChatGPT 4o seems to get right on the first try whereas I end up instructing Claude3 a few times to rewrite until we get there. Both are good, and it might be mostly muscle memory from using one since GPT2 betas.

Thanks for sharing. I have used getsunday for several years and it's fine (subscription lawn service.) I think I mostly love how their UI and resources work.
That said, it's gotten too expensive for what it is. So I have been meaning to find an alternative. I mostly need idiot-proof/tell me exactly what to do and when to do it.

it's different. I find ChatGPT easier to use, but Claude3 does things the other doesn't do.
Claude3 seems to be the most useful for me when I drag a few PDFs into it.
So I'm not sure it's worth the $20 a month, but when I really need it, it's effective. I have spent maybe $1 on their API, but I haven't quite deep-dived enough yet into it.

I'm still not sure what to think of Claude3, but I used it to help me edit some ongoing meeting notes and it managed the date changes, time.is link, and even added today's date as the update date.
I also gave it a few PDFs of information and had it help me generate a meeting outline and some other resources.

In all seriousness, I now know what to look for and I'll probably write up a blog post on what others should look for.
tl;dr for anyone else, if you are scratching your head as to why your ModelAdmin `filter_*` many-to-many fields stop showing a widget, then double-check you aren't missing something important like the `selectfilter` class.

🎂 My Subaru Ascent turned one today, and I ironically scheduled its first routine maintenance service today.
It's an A++ vehicle and is perfect for my family.
I look forward to seeing when an EV option is available for the size of car we need, but last year wasn't the year.
