I can recommend it, I like my exchange-based tariff very much (Awattar in Austria). I think it's fun to save by moving your load (dishwasher, EV) off-peak. Financially it makes most sense when you have an EV and are quite flexible when to charge. Last month I managed to have a average price of EUR 0,0418 (EV+house).

Obviously I had some troubles 2 months ago, but they have been resolved. Uptime was actually not that bad as it seems: The invoice page was often affected and also sometimes websocket connections. But after improving my NGINX config the relay is running stable again.

Well, I meant speculations about the root causes, not if there was a runway collission.
Thanks for your links: In 2019 the number was 1753. So it seems the numbers are just "back to normal" after some years with low number of flights.

It seems I am back to square one: After removing rate limits no out-of-memory and no redis restarts had happened again. But still my invoice page goes offline now and then. No apparent entries in any logfile (nostream, nostream-cache, nostreamdb). 🤔

Now I understand it, thanks. I just realized that I have some rather old default limit in my settings, that is not in the current default-settings.yaml with a duration of 1d. First I'll get rid of this, let's see if it helps. I will document your tips in my github issue. Maybe someone else is having similar problems.

It seems there is an out of memory problem. I have now added 16GB swap to my 16GB RAM, but it still happens. Available Mem (RAM) was mostly 12G, until suddenly:

Okay, I have problems as well. It seems Damus only reads a fraction of my contact list, maybe it is because of this issue. I need to investigat further.
But I would recommend to ALWAYS store the "/" at the ende of an URL, it is the correct serialized value of an URL, ommiting it is bad practice.

But why do you strip the "/" in URLs? I think the serialized representation of paths always include the "/" so it would be better to append it, but to strip it.

Thanks for your help. I am quite sure it does not have anything to do with relays, in my case. I was connected to the same relays, checked back and forth.
Now I have uploaded my old contact list using gossip (it can merge and push your contact list) and Damus still shows a higher number but still not the correct one.

Well, eVTOL are suitable only in specific cases, where vertical landing is really required, usually it’s not. In all other cases: Airplane aerodynamics win!
There are already prototypes like the Elektra One (with solar) and the Elektra Trainer (2 seats) with up to 3 hours and more flight time. It is only a matter of time.

Yes, the Pipistrel Velis has a flight time of only 50min but largely depends on your cruise power. It has 2 batteries and you have to land with 30% state of charge. That way you can still do a go-around and complete another circuit.
So the Velis is only suitable for very short trips or local flights. Therefore, they are mainly used in flight schools. You can perfectly learn traffic patterns with it.
I really enjoy flying with the Velis. It is super quiet (compared to a internal-combustion engine) and it has noticable fewer vibrations.

Thanks for your clarification. It still seems unpossible for me to bring an aircraft safely down with a parachute. 🤯 On the other hand those modern aircraft are so light. The Pipistrel Velis, I am flying, has an empty weight of only 428kg. So cool.

I don't think it makes much difference if salt contains 99% NaCl or 98% NaCl! Most high priced salts are not worth it. But yes, salt can be a good carrier medium for trace elements.

No, I don’t have any plans to become a professional pilot, hobby only. I am happy with my occupation and would not trade it. Maybe, I I’d even be bored as a commercial pilot. 😅
But maybe I’ll fly to some business trips one day. Although there are many additional licenses needed to do that.

Some weeks ago, I decided to fulfill a childhood dream: #LearningToFly! ✈️
Encouraged by the awesome Nostr community, I decided to share some experiences on my way to my private pilot license. I hope my journey is interesting to those pursuing the same goal, to aviation enthusiasts, and anyone else curious about it.
Feel free to ask me questions, and I'll do my best to answer them. As I am still early on my journey, there is much for me to learn.
First, I'd like to tell you about my childhood dream. Becoming a pilot used to be a childhood dream for many children. I don't know if it is still a thing. For me, it was something to aspire to.
When I was 10, I could identify almost every airplane model that landed at Vienna airport. While other kids played store, I set up a flight office in my room. You could buy flights from me! Unfortunately, I have no photos to share. However, here is a picture of a widely used airplane by Austrian Airlines, the McDonnell Douglas MD-82. I also had a small model of this aircraft and others.

As time went by, my interest in becoming a pilot faded, though I still liked planes. However, becoming a pilot seemed less interesting as I grew older. Now, I have my own consulting company, and I am content with my career choice.
Nevertheless, learning to fly was always on my agenda. However, as a child, I was too young. In my twenties, I lacked sufficient funds. In my thirties, I had no time or didn't prioritize it. Additionally, my concerns regarding flying grew due to its massive CO2 impact. But this year, something changed that reignited my dream. It has to do with a revolutionary new way to fly. I'll share it with you tomorrow.

Maybe I shall start with the beginning, why I am actually learning to fly. But I’ll do this tomorrow. For now, just a photo my wife took some minutes before I crawled into the plane to experience my first flight as a #PPLA student! 👨‍✈️✈
Here I am going through the checklist. That’s what a pilot needs to do before every flight. And you really need to do this. It is not like we all did when learning to drive: going around the car, but never doing it again after we have the permit. When it comes to flying, safety is paramount. I observer that I use Nostr less and less in recent weeks in comparison to Twitter (or whatever the correct name is today).
I love the tech and prospects behind Nostr. I run a relay and I support clients by translating the UI. But for me, personally, Nostr is lacking interesting content.
So, maybe I should post more content here, that I care about and others might find interesting?

In the end it is about the product: Good marketing will make a bad products fail faster.
Maybe those marketing tricks are not that important, if your product is great.
But I remember to sign up for ChatGPT and I think I had to wait a bit, to get access. In then of course there were limitations. But they were clearly hardware/scaling related and not artificial, at least I think so.
