It's not 10 USD a month. I thought that too. Their website is confusing. Price was hard to find.
So supposedly it's a one time payment of 18,888 sats. Then you can purchase something called a filter for 10 USD a month. I have no idea what this filter is.
I'm not positive on this though. Their website is not clear.
Paying for a relay is a way to show your support on what your values are. If you support them then you will get a relay without spam and maybe they only allow good npub profiles? I don't know you will have to do your own research.
Most free relays are trash. The noreplyguys guys have demonstrated that. Some administrators are not actually involved in the relay. They just set it up and left.
Frankly, I think the nostr.wine business model is flawed because one time payments eventually bankrupt the company and does not allow them to make a steady stream. Unless of course they have big pockets or friends with big pockets paying for their servers.

I do have the Nostr plugin installed. It allows me to create a custom lighting address [email protected]
In the lightning settings i set it to use internal node. If I don't use the internal node and set it to "use custom node" at the very bottom I see something called "Nostr Wallet Connect via NIP47"
When I expand it it shows 2 boxes.

I just spent 1 hour brainstorming with chatgpt on the Flat Earth theory.
I'm positive we do live inside a real life flat earth type model. The question is who built it and why.
I even talked to chat about how I could build a real life one and what materials I would need to achieve this.
It's easier than I thought to build one. There is nothing magical. You just to develop stronger material and a massive refrigeration type environmental type system but most of all what you need is the energy. Most likely more powerful than nuclear. I'd say fusion.
Flat Earth is one of the greatest theories I have ever stumbled upon and it is the most interesting.

Nobody wants to pay Alby's prices is probably because no one is actually making money.
Most Bitcoiners I've seen selling things are homemade products that are extremely expensive and the sales that they do get is probably from other Bitcoiners curious to see what it's like to purchase things using Bitcoin.
I doubt they are making a steady stream of income enough of pay Alby's prices.
I infact have no clue what their prices are but I remember signing up to voltage dot cloud and they had prices up to 25USD a month. Which is way too expensive for me since I'm not making a steady income from Bitcoin.
Now if I ran an actual business like a restaurant or hotel that accepted Bitcoin 25USD a month is not a lot if my sales are high. It would be worth it, instead of me trying to manage my own BTCPay and lighting hub.
I have yet to see actual businesses accepting Bitcoin around me. Many of the current business owners are fait in the head. Meaning they can't afford fool around with Bitcoin. They are in a lot of debt and don't care about getting humanity out if slavery.
I think as real estate starts collapsing we will see more Bitcoiners start to run businesses and we will see actual businesses start accepting Bitcoin. I do see some very cheap real estate near me and someday I might just start a business but currently with the communist government and their taxation and regulations. It's better to just keep hodling.
They're will be a point where things change and it's time to start a business and I will be glad that their is Bitcoin companies like alby and voltage out there who can help me with Bitcoin payments.
Until then I'll self host, learn Bitcoin, zap others and have fun.

Are you actually uploading it to primal? When you upload media it tells you where it's uploading to. I think the default for amethyst is the website nostr.build
Most relays don't host videos and images. They host just the text of your notes probably because images and videos takes up too much space.
You can run your own relay and allow the hosting of images and videos but it requires Linux cli experience and maintaining the server and updating the relay software. You don't actually need to run a relay to host your own images and videos.
I host my own images on my website using an image hosting software called Chevereto. I bought it and installed it because i like hosting my own media and not depending on hosting websites.
From what I remember nostr.build is free for images and videos and if you want more space they require a yearly fee or something.
You can add their site in the media server settings. There is also other Nostr image hosting websites. They seem to be popping up recently.

No privacy is what makes Bitcoin powerful. The goal is to push adoption of Bitcoin until governments, banks and corporations are forced to use it. Basically the world will be forced to use it. Then we the people will be able to monitor the governments, banks & corporations activities and track their corruption and end it and hold bad actors accountable.

I hate tipping too and I have avoided most places that ask for tips. It was easier years ago but now fast food owned by corporations who make billions are even asking for tip. It's got to the point where I just learn to cook my own food and rarely eat out.
It's worse now going out to eat because the economy is bad and workers are over worked, underpaid and service is slow and bad.
Small business really could use those extra tips as they are struggling.
It's better just to stay home and learn to cook.

I installed BTCPay and it comes with LND or clightning I tried both but using lnd for now both use RTL.
How do I run NWC? I don't see any option inside BTCPay and don't see any plugins called NWC inside the BTCPAY plugins options.
BTCPAY already gives us our own node.
I looked online but it seems BTCPay can't do NWC?
Is it a 3rd party plugin?

Interesting. I ended up trying it out with the newest version of WordPress. It does have issues with the newest version. It has about 3 widgets. 2 of them didn't work and I got the last one working.
So far from what I understand is every user visiting your WordPress site needs the alby browser extension which I downloaded but since I don't have an ably account I could send any Satoshi to see if it worked. I think it would of worked.
I was hoping I could use my BTCPay sever to generate the invoice and bypass the browser extension as not everyone had the alby extension. If you use BTCPay server the user just goes to the link and he can pay through there.
I also don't think when users pay it shows the donation amount & comments. It would be cool if it left the comments and amount for everyone to see.
I do see some BTCPay sever setting in there. I will keep paying around with it. Alby seems be doing a lot online for Bitcoin.
I'll keep an eye on the development of it.
For now that plugin gave me an idea. I will just post a link to my BTCPay server store and they can donate through there.

The future of the internet is paying for websites and apps your support and like.
The problem now is that most websites want you to use your credit card and input too much personal information. They also end up charging you past the subscription and sometimes dont met you cancel but worst of all identify theft.

I never tried my nsec. That's risky.
I've been investigating this and it says online you can use a browser extension like alby connect but I don't have an alby account.
You can download nSecBunker and seems to be something that will manage your nsec and give you some sort of login so you don't need to ever use your nsec but it will require a Linux computer and familiar with the terminal.
nSecBunker seems like the best way to go.
I'm going to give that a shot and see how it goes.

I'm very bullish for nostr.
I want to lock in 100USD to my nsec and only allow other profiles who have 100USD locked into to transact with me and if they unlock it then can no longer transact with me. It would be almost like a small savings account.

I've always felt that web administrators and corporate apps are extremely left sided and will quickly delete your content and ban you even if you have a subscription.
This is why it's important to develop software with the mindset of making it easy for 1 person to self-host their own stuff.
This goes for relays as well. I want to self-host my own relay for my own images and notes and not have to depend on others. Hosting your own relay definitely needs to be easier.

Running a relay costs money, time, server power & lots of HD space. As more users use your relay it becomes almost a full-time job.
It looks like the relays will end up on the same path as image hosting websites.
This is why I bought my own image hosting software "chevereto" and I am hosting my own images because I figure the nostr image hosting websites will end up on the same path as the original image hosting websites decades ago. They all went bankrupt and all the images I uploaded on their websites went bye.
I'm not sure if I'm up to the task of setting up my own relay. That's some advanced cli linux docker stuff.
It will be sad when relays start disappearing because there is also no way to export/import our notes to a new relay.
Read the note at the very bottom.
The idea that is passed on to relay operators is that they should purge old notes due to the fact that HD space is limited once the relay starts to become popular and used by many.
The issue with deleting previous notes and only keeping a months worth of notes is that your previous notes could be missing out on getting zapped.
Every Satoshi counts!
Paying for a relay is a good option. The only issue is understanding how paid relays work.

The Amethyst relay settings are overwhelming.
I deleted all the relays because I was testing things and I was trying to learn what relays are and do.
Since I deleted the DM relay is empty does that mean I can't receive DMs? There is no reset relays back to default and I forgot what were the default relays.
I have no clue what exactly all the different type of relays do. It's all very confusing.
I can see why some people have come to check it out and never came back.
Nostr definitely has a big learning curve.

Why would I want my past posts deleted?
Every post has potential of getting zapped in the future.
Every little zap counts even if it's one Satoshi.
How are people gonna make money if their past posts get deleted.
I might find an old post I like and zap it.
I'm going to have to setup my own relay as it seems like lately the talk of relays going away.
I'm still trying to understand relays. It doesn't make sense to me. The relay settings are confusing and I'm not sure what I am supposed to do. I remember receiving a pop-up from the nostr . wine relay asking me to pay and it thought it was spam.
Nostr takes time to learn. We need a system where we can download our data and move relays.
The relay websites also don't explain what we are paying for.

As for me. It would drive me to run my own relay.
I was looking into running my own relay and I setup a test relay recently. It was fairly easy but you need some skills in using the linux cli.
I don't think I would open up the relay for anyone except me.
It cost a lot of money and HD space once you open it up for anybody and you have to be fairly skilled to keep it running and maintain it once you get hundred and thousands of users using your relay.
It aways starts out this way. Everyone runs and starts their own forum, image hosting website, facebook clone website to try it out because it's fun and others run to setup the website to try to monetize it. Eventually we run into the same problem where most users do not want to to pay for a subscription and novelty wears off. So many end up shutting down their websites.
Running a service for internet users is a lot of work for no ROI.
Don't except to make enough money to cover your server costs because we are currently getting robbed by the banking system and most people don't have money to spend on internet services. It's a tough situation. Once we take defeat the big corrupt banking system. People around the world will have much more money to spend on things other than basic nessessities.
One thing I found out is if I started my own relay. It wouldn't gather my past notes. Only the notes going forward.
I hope in the future they implement some sort of system where you can download all your data in a zip file and upload it to a new relay. We need the because I see in the future many relays shutting down.
It will be sad it we lose our past notes.
I see lots of potential with Nostr compared to big tech social media.
Especially since it's monetized via the lightning network.
Nostr will overtake and beat the big tech social media companies. The fact that Nostr is decentralized is the reason Nostr will succeed.

The NCAO Nostr's Chief Android Officer has 141 reports. I looked through them and most if not all seem to be spam bots.
In oder to stop spam and spam bots A solution to implement would be if you want to report someone's post. It should cost 1 Satoshi or more.
Who gets the 1 satoshi go to? hmm that's a tough one.. the Relay or the Amethyst developers? I'd have to think about that more.
Either way. It's a good way to stop spam and a good way to stop bots from abusing the report function.
It's interesting to see how Nostr is developing and the solutions and ideas they will implement to stop spam.
I believe charging Satoshi for features like sending someone private messages or making a report will effectively stop spam and people from abusing the system.
There is only 1 feature that will stop almost any spam and that is MONEY.
Spammers and even normal users will always stop and THINK about what they are doing if it will cost them money.

I heard that too about other made in china products like Christmas lights or other electronic products.
The cables I bought are just the cables and not the actual charger block that plugs into the wall.

I love these magnetic phone charging cables.
I've been using them for many years on all my phones and electronics.
Last week my phone wasn't charging as fast. After doing some troubleshooting and i realized the magnetic cable has a tiny gap and and it got filled with tiny dust or dirt and it's affecting the charging speed.
I bought extra cables years ago so I switched to a new cable and it started charging at full speed again.
In spite of that problem these cables are amazing. I hope they redesign them with no gap.
These cables keep the original phone's charging port like brand new because you never have unplug/plug the cables in all the time. They keep the charging port like new.

Someone told me that Wallet of Satoshi is a custodial wallet meaning they control your private keys.
Yes that's true. I don't like using wallets that control your private keys because It goes against everything that Bitcoin stands for and the corruption we have on earth is because of the banks controlling our money. If we let Bitcoin company wallets control our keys than that corruption will come back.
I just remembered why I am using wallet of satoshi. It's because I wanted a BIP353 address. BIP353 addressed seem to be fairly new and i quickly realized BIP353 addresses are amazing.
Everyone will be using and have a BIP353 address in the future. It's way simpler then using a traditional Bitcoin address where the address if extremely long with full of numbers & letters. It's easy to make a mistake when sending money this way.
BIP353 is where you make your own username.
Example:
username@ walletofsatoshi .com
username@ walletofchoice . com
Phoenix wallet is a non-custodial wallet where you control you own keys. Unfortunately it doesn't let you chose a username yet even tho it's in the user settings.
That is why i have been using walletofsatoshi and other wallets. I wanted to see how BIP353 addresses work.
I love BIP353 addresses. They are the future but I warn you against keeping your life savings on wallet of satoshi or any other wallets that you don't control the keys. If you are just learning how the lightning network works using the wallet of satoshi is a great wallet.

Oh interesting. I had no idea it wasn't available in the USA. Wallet of Satoshi is a custodial wallet so it's not good to keep a lot of money on there.
You can try Phoenix wallet instead I heard it's a non-custodial wallet.
I'm just playing around with wallets. You can try using a VPN or download the APK if you really want to try wallet of satoshi.

Yes they do. They give you a big warning say that you will still be charged even when your droplet is off. You have to destroy the droplet.
What you could do but I haven't tried is after you destroyed the droplet is create and exact droplet in terms of hardware and restore a snapshot or backup to the new droplet.
Snapshots and backups are cheap to store.

I bought this image hosting software called Chevereto a while back but never really used it.
Since Nostr has no central severs to store my media for me. That requires me to have to depend on other image hosting websites/media relays to host my images and videos.
So now I have a use for the Chevereto software that I rarely used because I rather host my own media and not depend on others. Mostly because I remember years ago when image hosting websites were popular. Many started their own image hosting websites in hopes that they could monetize the websites.
In the long run. 99% of those image hosting websites went bankrupt because it requires a lot of server power, space & expertise to keep that type of site running.
Many tried to monetize their image hosting websites through ads because it was the only way to make money and even so they didn't break even.
Most people are just not willing to pay for image hosting service when there is literally lots of other free websites they can use. These days many internet users also use AdBlockers which cuts into profits of trying to make money from ads.
Will the Nostr paid media relays end up on the same path?
Possibly.. but I learned from the past because none of the image hosting websites I used are still alive today and all the images I uploaded on their websites are gone.
So from now on I'm hosting my own media using my own media hosting software and the software only cost me 48USD.
Since I'm the only one using I don't have to worry about expensive sever costs.

I've been learning PHP as a hobby on my spare time.
I found that I would often spend too much time looking through links on google when I ran into trouble or had programming questions.
I would have to sign up to a coding forum or go on reddit to ask my programming question.
I started using chatgpt to help me. It explains to me what I did wrong, checks my code, gives me improvements and answers all my questions with detailed explanations within seconds. Saves me a huge amount of time.
Don't need google anymore. Google sucks it's old technology.
