It would be nice if we didn’t need to think about Monero, but it’s a separate blockchain that can do very important things that Bitcoin cannot do. Not shitcoinery, but actual use cases. This is why both Michael Saylor and Peter Todd have said "if you need privacy, use Monero".
I don’t want it to be this way, but the culture is shifting and privacy is no longer desirable for these fiat corporations and the governments they trust in. That is why they continue to push their sunken cost into lightning. Devs are still trying to figure out how to scale Lightning. How many more decades until they attempt non-custodial privacy?
Bitcoin is a much better store of value than Monero. There is no second best in that department. But I came to Bitcoin because it is supposed to be the best money, and money has many more properties than "store of value".

Obviously Homelander is Trump. The creators have even said this. In the latest season, a liberal throws a cup at Homelander’s son, so Homelander lasers his head in half. The crowd cheers.
This is a parody of Trump’s comment about shooting someone on 5th Avenue and people would love him.
Homelander has a trial for murder, where he claims self defense. Before the trial, he invites a few of his biggest fans to meet him, and has their heads smashed in with bats.
After he is acquitted for self defense, a new supe named Sister Sage, who is the "smartest person in the world", provokes a riot. Earlier in the show, Sage correctly explained that all democracies fail because the majority are stupid.

Liquid is a multisig pretending to be a sidechain. 15 people control your coins.
Drivechains are sidechains, chosen by 51% hashrate. They are a promise from the miners that they support these sidechains and will not destroy them in 10 minutes.
There is no reason to put sidechain technology on a fake sidechain and see how it does.
If you want to peg out of Liquid, and the Liquid federation wants to give you your Bitcoin, but 51% of miners do not want you to have your coins, they can censor you. They can censor lightning. They can kill every L2, including drivechains.
BIP300 recognizes this, so it does two things to protect itself:
1. Massive fees to miners. Why would miners kill something that always pays them? They are incentivized to protect the sidechains, make them better, and continue mining L1.
2. Six month peg out. This gives us six months to see if the miners are misbehaving, with a constant warning displayed to the world every 10 minutes.
If using a second layer to Bitcoin is its eventual future for the masses, then there is nothing close to drivechains.
BitVM has similar issues, though it’s MUCH better than lightning, and that is why Super Testnet and Robin still support BIP300.

Thank you Super Testnet. I have been thinking about this, and I’m running into issues with a multisig setup. Perhaps this is something bitVM is also unable to solve.
If Alice adds funds for collateral and Bob refuses to respond, then Alice loses her collateral and it cost Bob nothing.
We could make it where Alice can get her money back if Bob doesn’t respond. However, if Bob does respond and Alice pays, Bob could use his own private key to take back his part. Now Bob has his 10 BTC + the payment, but Alice is short the payment and only gets her collateral back.
So the incentives are better if it’s all or nothing for both, but Bob can be evil for free. Would bitVM run into the same dilemma?

Okay it’s been updated. I would not use this without collateral because there is no protection. In that case, you are better off trusting a third party or paying cash to a friend.
However, I added a way to use less collateral. It increases the risk, but the seller can still be punished severely for lying.

I’ve been trying to help @npub1nev…jmve. They have built a GUI program that lets you install an upgraded signet version of Bitcoin Core with BIP300. There are also a few sidechains like Thunder and a privacy focused zcash fork.
Paul Sztorc is currently building CUSF, which stands for Core-Untouched Soft Fork. It will allow miners and users to choose future soft forks in an organized manner.
The cypherpunk vision for Bitcoin is coming soon

One pool cannot "just steal the money" and you know this. It takes six months with a constant 10 minute reminder that your pool is trying to steal the funds.
Hashers have a ridiculous amount of time to switch, it is very easy to switch, and they are incentivized to switch because the pool is wasting their work.
If a single mining pool has over 51% hashrate, then Bitcoin is in trouble anyway. BIP300 recognizes this and keeps the miners on a very short leash.

Hashrate escrow does solve this. No corporation has to run an LSP or have massive liquidity to route payments. Instead, that liquidity can be used to buy L2 coins and onboard users directly without their own L1 txn.
Some say it makes the miners a custodian, but that is not true. It would require thousands of hashers, collectively agreeing to continue stealing funds for 6 months- while everyone sees what they are doing every 10 minutes and they waste their Proof of Work.
The only time drivechain funds will get "stolen" is when miners and economic nodes have agreed to kill a sidechain and hard fork to another. In this case, miners can offer atomic swap to the new chain before the old dies, and nobody loses money.
