Swedens publicly owned power company Vattenfall has now decided to build Nuclear power.
It published a short list of SMR companies and the winners are:
British Rolls-Royce SMR and GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy from the USA.
It is still not decided if Vattenfall will pursue SMR:s or if they will go with conventional Nuclear power.
The short listed companies will now be investigated further and deeper and probably compared with traditional reactors.

Where do you get the energy from?
For me it goes in cycles. Sometimes I feel like I don't care about the world at all and they can all crash and burn except my loved ones and friends.
And sometimes I do have a bit of extra energy and I do argue and try to teach.

Interesting!
I'm experimenting with the 16/8, 15/9, 14/10 diets.
The things is, since I sleep a lot during weekends, and tend to skip breakfast when I'm on vacation, without knowing it, I've been on at least teh 14/10 diet big parts of my life.
As for health benefits I've always been slim and look 5-10 years younger than I am, but have no idea if that isn't just genetics or if my unintentional 14/10 has contributed to it or not.

Well, sysadmin does require some lighter scripting/programming in its modern form.
If you sysadmin in a devops organization, expect some terraform, bash, python and ansible for automated deployment, and also expect to juggle some containers and perhaps a k8s-cluster or two.
So more programming-oriented than UX, technical writing and project mgmt, but definitely not as programming heavy as a fulltime programmer.

I think online privacy is the easiest one to start with.
But on the question of self defense, I'm curious what you are defending against?
Depending on the threat, discussions online can go from the save, easy and obvious (one person) to the insane (being attacked by 20 people thus having to have 10 AR-15s and an assault vehicle).

For me, the worrying trend is that the market wants monopolies granted by the government and regulation. So I see a 3 way split... the government wants, the official market wants... and the black market wants.
The question will then be... what does the majority, the public want, and if too many want the black market, the "product" of government cash will have no demand, and the market will in that case, want to have nothing with the government to do.

But the areas where it is not needed I would say are:
* Technical writer (you still need some idea of coding to understand better what you are writing about).
* UX/UI/Design, less code intensive. You could even move into graphical design/publishing.

Fascinating. I read in the news today that someone tried to smuggle 130 frogs out of brazil and got caught.

Many have been the times when I thought about moving to the US.
I think alaska is at the top of my list. Similar nature and climate to northern europe and summer which are not too hot.
I think the taxes are not too high as well.
Another part I considered is southern switzerland close to the italian border.
I wonder if I'll move. Probably it will be when I decide to retire and when my father is dead. At that point I won't have any natural connection to sweden any longer.

Therefroe the argentine central bank is full of socialists.

I'm torn. I lived in Norway on and off for 2 years, and the people are great, nature is wonderfil, and it is generally clean and safe. Taxes are also lower than sweden (surprise, surprise!).
But during corona they had extremely strict lock downs, and they are very politically correct. Annoyingly so.
But maybe that could be circumcented by moving to a smaller place and not any of the bigger cities?

Yes, I've heard good things about it. Most people from åland I met have been very nice and polite, and since I like fishing, it seems like there are good fishing places there as well. =)
As for jobs, I work 100% remote, so as long as there is internet that should be fine.
One of the guys I know has a small apartment in a suburb of stockholm and has worked all his life for companies in stockholm commuting back and forth by ferry/car.

In sweden I think you are still allowed to have the opinion that the holocaust never took place. However, if you voice it, you'll be fined according to "Hets mot folkgrupp" because it is illegal to criticize groups of people and by extension immigration as well.

Believe it or not, but I actually tried to use crypto a while ago! It was an interesting experiment but ultimately didn't work.
Here's the summary.
I tried to pay an american programmer for his services with my regular bank. They botched the transfer and stole 88 EUR anyway.
Then I tried binance. First of all, it was close to impossible to open an account. Just as much AML/KYC as my regular bank, except that I think this is some crappy company with chinese ties.

Because it is a socialist project at heart. Liberal projects, by definition, move power from politicians to the people. If that was the case with the EU, the salaries and nr of positions would decrease every year.
That would be for politicians to argue against themselves.
So by definition, career politicians, can only be in favour of more government, since that increases their power and wealth, and power is what all politicians, right or left, crave above anything else.

In lithuania I once saw an arabian man standing in the middle of the street next to his car, and once I drove closer I saw that his car had swedish license plates. ;)
In lithuania they do exist, but since they don't get the juicy 2000+ EUR per month government aid like in sweden, most immigrants continue through poland to germany or take a ferry to sweden.
