What we have today that is being marketed as AI is not intelligent in any meaningful sense, it's just spicy autocomplete: there's no mind behind it. It can no more write a good story than a Boeing 737 can lay an egg.
A hypothetical general AI that *did* have consciousness and intent would raise far more interesting questions than whether or not it could write a genuinely good story. (Although it probably could.)

Welp, my worldcon luggage includes an LFT test for every day of the convention, and significantly more KF94 masks than I can possibly need. (I use KF94s rather than N95s because they fit my face better and a slightly worse mask that fits properly is infinitely better than a better mask that leaves gaps the wind whistles through.)

At some point I should probably write up a comparison between the DM250 and my first portable writing deck computer, 1989's Cambridge Z88 (from Sir Clive Sinclair). 35 years on, the DM250 is half the weight, 120% greater battery life, 1000x the built-in storage, CPU is about 1000x faster, screen is infinitely better ...
And less than half the price (adjusted for inflation).

That'd be a very hard NO.
(I write commercial fiction. All my author/publisher contracts include a warranty clause, that the MS I'm delivering is all my own work. To use an LLM would court breach of contract—a very expensive mistake!)
Possible exception: if, BY PRIOR AGREEMENT WITH A PUBLISHER, there was a specific reason to include LLM-generated text, eg. in a book about LLMs (unlikely).

The FAANGs all have a record of terrible investment decisions in the past 2 decades. Apple wasted $8Bn on driverless cars before they gave up. Meta spent by some estimates $100Bn pursuing the VR metaverse before they quit. Amazon lost $10Bn on Alexa in 2022 alone.
So like gambling addicts everywhere, they've just moved on up to the top table (AI) and are doubling down.

If cloud services have a combined market cap of $250Bn, what's the future valuation of the entire AI sector? Bear in mind that AI has a limitless appetite for data centre capacity, burps, and asks for more. Which is what the big vendors—AMZN, AAPL, META, MSFT—are making a play for. All with market caps north of $1Tn each, so essentially bottomless asset pits to borrow against.

The cloud industry has a combined market cap of around $250Bn, and the stakeholders (MSFT, AMZN, AAPL, etc) have combined market caps on the order of 10% of planetary GDP, and they're locked in a multiway prisoner's dilemma game with escalating stakes.
When this bubble bursts it's potentially going to cause a global recession. Never mind all the folks whose wages have been depressed or whose jobs have gone away because management bought into the AI grifters' spiel.

The purpose of an epilogue is to give the reader a sense of closure—that all loose ends have been secured, that there's nothing left to tell—that was absent from the ending of the story itself for some reason.

Does your WIP contain any subplots, perhaps between secondary characters?
It's not exactly a recipe (I reinvent the novel from scratch every time I start to write a new book) but a pattern I often use is to have three plot strands about different protagonists, interleaved and converging to reinforce each other at the climax. Or to have a single primary plot strand and a sparser "contrast" plot to illuminate the places the main plot cannot go.

I remember when Windows 3.1 came out and it was a dog. It's still a dog. No memory protection, crashed like a very crashy thing indeed … but it doesn't run on 64-bit processors and doesn't provide an environment modern viruses and malware can infect. Invulnerable to bitlocker malware because its filesystem is 30 years obsolete.

What's particularly mad is that this implies an ESTABLISHED ecosystem about 200My BEFORE the end of the Late Heavy Bombardment, previously accepted as the time of first life, and before the end of the Hadean. eon. The Theia impact (which formed the Moon and probably liquefied any crust the Earth had prior to it) happened around 4.4 to 4.45Gy ago, only 200My earlier.
