Support for Palestine and vocal criticism of the Israeli state are both fine here, although there are certain things that could trigger moderation, for example Nazi/Holocaust inversion (particularly as our servers are hosted in Germany).

To help ensure the safety of our users and the wider Fediverse, we're now including IFTAS blocklists in our federation policy.
IFTAS (Independent Federated Trust & Safety) provides support and resources for administrators and moderators. We really respect their hard work in keeping the Fediverse safe.
Our current blocklists are almost identical to theirs, so there should be very few changes to our federation.

DeepL API has a flat fee of €5/month and then €20 per 1 million characters. If a post is up to 500 characters then (at worst) 2000 translations can cost €20. We’ve run a couple of trials before and it looked like it could easily get to €100/200 per month.
I'd love to use DeepL as it has better translation, but at the moment we use a service we can self-host (which uses resources we've already paid for) and is good enough (although has a way to go).

Unfortunately Gaelic is not currently available in LibreTranslate, which our web interface uses.
I did actually try creating a Gaelic model using a beefy GPU and Gaelic corpus from opus.nlpl.eu, but the results were horrifying. I think someone with experience needs to do it, and possibly with more data than is easily available!
There may be support for it in DeepL Pro translation which is also compatible with the web interface, but it's too costly at this scale.
