Some people think mosquitoes are attracted to black. You could paint your container black, but I've had such good results with my dumb white buckets that I'm not going to worry about it.

Put some hay or grass clippings in it. Since it's supposed to attract mosquitoes, you probably don't want it really close to where people congregate. I have 4: 3 around the perimeter of my yard, & 1 in a low spot where the mosquitoes usually seem to be the worst.
I'm sorry, but I love killing mosquitoes. I guess that makes me some sort of sadist. But they annoy me & spread disease. Fuck them. 😂

I'm still pissed about buying things labeled Pyrex that weren't borosilicate glass. 😡
I guess Coca-Cola jeans weren't made out of Coke, but it still sucks having to specify, say, "borosilicate measuring cup" or "polycarbonate glazing" instead of just Pyrex or Lexan. And then, even if you say any of the above, you *still* might not get what you want. [goes outside, yells at cloud]

Yeah. I think it's almost always better to get it spread out: it soaks in better & causes less erosion.
It's weird here: we had so much rain 1½ to 2 months ago. I have mosquito trap buckets set up & am assisting a neighbor w/ same. Had to dump some water out of my buckets in August b/c I didn't want them to overflow spontaneously. Now some buckets are at risk of drying out. I'm not experienced with them, & it's a learning process, but it definitely helps with the mosquitoes.

I bought it off Amazon, I think. [hangs head in shame] I don't even remember the name of the vendor. The scale has a manufacturer or something clearly labeled, but the way Amazon is these days, I assume everything is made deep underground in the 9th circle of hell from pure lava, plus the occasional raw material brought down from the surface. Any manual labor is "contributed" by the damned, who don't need to be paid.

What I bought was between $20 & $30; the 500g model was between $30 & $40. I instantly thought without having that it was software limited. They had an array of units for different masses, but they all looked the same. But you start messing with the tare function and containers, & you realize the unit can well register over 200g, but it's being quiet about it.
I'm good at finding out stupid, useless shit about equipment, including programming irregularities. 🤷‍♂️

I say that because the pictures of the items online were so ridiculously close. The 500g model was also the same company. I think they put like different color labels on it or some stupid thing.
TBH, the "balance pan" was way too small for practically kitchen use at 500g, but I can do a lot more with shitty tools too that the average person, I think. Maybe that'll be my new point of snobbery for myself. 😂

I'm on my 4th kitchen scale; I had a working one, but wanted to weigh out salt & yeast for bread. So I bought a scale that'll do centigrams up to 200g. Forgot my prime directive: always overbuy tools. Can't tell you how many times I've now wanted the small scale to go to at least 1 lb. But I'll bet you a loaf of bread that scale is software limited to 200g, & otherwise is the same as the more expensive 500g model I looked at. So what do I use it for now? Loose tea.

If the hydration is high enough, I learned to work the dough with stirring & molding instead of kneading & forming loaves. It worked for me.

I feel your pain. Every time I tried initial rises for dough without salt, I always lost the extra volume mixing it in later. After a while you ask yourself if it's worth it, & you answer no.
