Is anything simple? And, if so, why do we human beings seem to make it so complex?##
Complex CompletionI’ve [completed work on an album](https://muz4now.com/2026/changes-to-world-life-and-music-projects/ ) named, “[singularity](https://www.subvert.fm/muz4now/singularity )“. And this process has me pondering the singularity and the complexity of life.
When I started, I set out to use only one, single sound (musicians like to call it a “patch”) on each piece. However, I couldn’t stop there. So, most of them ended up with three or even more.
In the same way, life seems like even when I intend to have one focus or goal, tendrils stretch out to something far more varied. I set out to do **one** thing, but soon I’ve created a long list.##
Go For A Walk[](https://muz4now.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/RBsits.jpg )Similarly, changes I’ve undertaken to simplify my life have turned out to add to its complexity. As I remove things that no longer serve me, the closet I thought I was emptying, I’m actually filling up again. And each void I create in my schedule, I fill with any number of other activities.
Over the years, I’ve accumulated a virtual [toolkit](https://muz4now.com/2020/what-can-you-add-to-your-resilience-toolkit-resilience/ ) of wise ways to shift my attention and understanding. Go for a walk. Take a breath. Pause and close my eyes. Practice my practices. But sometimes, I find these don’t cut it in times like this.##
Especially Complexity[](https://muz4now.bandcamp.com/ )Some of you who have followed along here for a while know that [my dog — we’ll call her “RB” — often inspires me](https://muz4now.com/web-stories/guru-puppy-what-im-learning-from-my-dog/ ). She reminds me to enjoy what I enjoy; to go to the places that are fun; and to show love whenever possible. If ever there was a simple being, it is her.
When my life is complex, I forget to go back to these simple reminders. I become impatient with RB’s desire to sniff, to look out over the fields, to follow the wildlife into the forest.
And yet, these (and many other inspirations) are just what I need. Thankfully, two friends reached out and asked me to go on a hike. We did. And that’s a simple pleasure.###

On one hand, I’m really thrilled with the initial reception of “[Cosmic Theories](https://muz4now.com/2026/cosmic-theories-hopesongs-nowplaying/ )“. On the other, it has made me more aware of being down to earth.##
Where Am I?[<img width="1024" height="575" src="https://muz4now.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/CloudsSunrayBlog-1024x575.jpg" alt="Blotchy clouds with sun rays coming through them.
Photo by https://pixabay.com/users/scholty1970-7596740/" />](https://muz4now.com/2017/finger-lakes-clouds-beauty/ )I often have my head in the [clouds](https://muz4now.com/tag/clouds/ ). (Maybe that’s why I am so drawn to those fluffy things in the sky.) This is probably part of what makes me so driven to pursue writing music. My flow of creative output keeps some part of me fed.
This release (Cosmic Theories) definitely fed a part of me that needed to express itself. Between personal, regional, and global stories, there is so much for me to mourn and so much that concerns me.##
Earth[<img width="1024" height="576" src="https://muz4now.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/EarthBlog-1024x576.jpg" alt="A shadowy image of the earth from space.
Image by https://pixabay.com/users/ragobar-10588563/" />](https://muz4now.com/2019/clarity-dawns-human-beings-nature-becoming/ )I press my feet into the ground. Solid, I feel it uphold me. Daily life is not so solid. Often, I feel swayed around as if in a stormy sea.
That swaying led me into creating this suite. I needed something more cosmic, beyond this earthly domain, to slow that unsettling sway. And for whatever weird reason, that made me think of cosmic creation theories.##
Cosmic[<img width="1024" height="576" src="https://muz4now.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/CosmicBlog-1024x576.jpg" alt="A galaxy on the left and a supernova on the right illustrate the cosmic scenery.
Image by https://www.pexels.com/@zelch/" />](https://muz4now.com/2023/meditation-suite-2-beyond-silence/ )So, there I was. Back in the recording studio. (Not working on my [folk song album](https://muz4now.com/2025/is-it-too-early-to-tell-another-album-preview/ ).) I had recently updated some sound libraries from [Eduardo Tarilante](https://theartofsampling.es ), so they were right in front of me. “Hey, why not use these?”
Of course, they turned out to be the perfect tools for me in this project. Key sounds fed into the ideas for the next track. And a suite was born: [Cosmic Theories](https://muz4now.bandcamp.com/album/cosmic-theories ). Thanks for listening.
