I have no idea, but I imagine that they might likely have been extracting commitments behind the scenes. It's all well and good the the GOP will be worse, but unions are not obligated to give away their endorsements without getting commitments from the Democrats. You and I may see this as an existential vote against fascism, but not everyone sees it that way.

I am not sure that I have a good answer. I wouldn't want to just substitute socieconomic status for race, but certainly it has to be factored in. If a school goes from 60% white to 40% white because of an increase in Latino students, without the SES of students dropping, that isn't segregation, that's actually an increase in diversity. (Which is not to say that charter schools and other school choice initiative might not increase segregation.)

Except that the same census actually indicated that 49% of public school students are White not 63%. If the student population was distributed evenly, 100% of Black students would be enrolled in majority non-White schools. Which is not to say that economic segregation isn't a problem/ It is, but using >50% non-White as a criteria distorts the problem. In fact even framing it as a Black-White issue is a bit problematic.

I think there was reason to believe after Trump's appointments that they had every reason to do it it before 2022. But you might be right that they still wouldn't have had the votes.
The problem is that they really are doing a poor job defending our rights. They are losing.
Obviously, or it should be, voting against the Nazi's is the basic thing we all need to do. The Dems are not making it easy.

$75000 is more like middle class than wealthy these days, but I hear you. I talk a lot of shit about the Democrats, but the alternative right now is fascism. So I'll hold my nose and vote for Biden, but I didn't like it.
