I work in the spookiest building on campus AND I have great old windows in my office. Bought some lighted ghosts and I am gonna have fun with college students. (I would like to do a whole projector thing, but don’t want to spend that much on something that security will probably tell me I can’t do)

You’re lucky! A couple years ago I spotted two of our IT people wheeling out a whole cartload of Mac towers and minis. I asked what was going to happen to them and was told, literally, that they would be “melted for slag.” I nearly cried.

Instagram plant influencers think they’re clever, but they’ve got nothing on houseplant books from the 70s

I had one of the first Neons to roll off the factory floor. I had one of the 2000 New Beetles released in a special color for the year 2000. I am strongly considering Slate, bc I love new and novel vehicles made for normal people. Just wish they made a sedan or a hatch. (I’m also a fan of the Nash Metropolitan: reasonably priced, engineered for safety, and marketed to women.)

That was a common pay scheme for web writing in the 90s. At The Mining Co. (which became about.com), you also had to hit a minimum before you got paid at all. I was making ~$42 every three months when I left. My husband was a Guide for a more popular topic, and he would occasionally make maybe $300 in a month if something exciting happened.

So… in 6th grade I had my own personal vertical file of clips from the Weekly Reader and National Geographic World, and so many of them were about being a good citizen by conserving energy. It’s ingrained in our generation. And yes, attic fans (or “whole house fans”) rule!

My mom never made one stop if she could make three in one trip. We turned off the lights when we left a room. We used the attic fan instead of AC until mid-July. In Oklahoma. I actually have really fond memories of the mid-70s.

I have a lot of habits left over from the Carter-era energy crisis, but didn’t realize it until my kid was complaining about gas prices and I was like “Are you planning your errands for maximum efficiency? Could you pack your lunch and save a trip home?” Yeah, I’m a Fun Mom

Hey y’all: that passport design is not mandatory, and it’s only planned to be available at the DC passport office. Read to the last paragraph; they’re counting on your headline-induced outrage for engagement. https://apnews.com/article/passport-trump-us-250th-birthday-df2f0f96e4fbcee89ae904a65af398f0

Again, my image did not attach. Maybe it’s an IceCubes thing?

A window in my new office. I have not had very many offices with windows, but the ones I’ve had have had top-notch windows. #FensterFreitag
