Nobody has a child going to school as one gender and returning as another.
Trans people are not attacking women (or anyone else) in bathrooms.
Nobody is going through the hell of transitioning, putting up with the shit people give them etc for 'fun'.
All trans people want to do is just get on with life, doing what they want to do which harms nobody else whatsoever so they don't have to spend an entire lifetime miserable.
The rhetoric to suggest otherwise is 100% bullshit.

Exactly - and I see people saying they struggle to afford to have 1TB... Storage is cheap so I never quite understand how it has become too expensive to people. Similarly I barely notice the CPU consumption from the entire collection of mastodon instances we look after, it's so insignificant - even when you're accepting relay traffic.

Not 100% sure I understand, but we're a small independent IT company that runs our own data centres and we run mastodon instances (inc my personal one - this one) - I never really get the 'expensive for compute and storage' argument as I find mastodon to be entirely trivial in demands. I've seen people say they find 1TB of storage a big deal, but I don't get it. I assume the 'expensive' bit is all this 'cloud' hosting.

That's fair - just always cautious about 'what is reasonable to one, might not be to another'.
But I do agree in principle if there was some sort of trustworthy 'don't federate this junk' thing it wouldn't be a net bad thing, but it absolutely needs to be transparent and run by neutrals.

Think the issue I'd have there is you're then trusting someone else to decide what and when to block...
...which can lead to some interesting consequences.
